Do you have a beach tent type of thing for your kid? If so, which one? Is it worthwhile? I'm thinking that since Miles seems to have inherited my near albinism, I should probably do what I can to avoid a sunburnn at all costs while in Aruba.

Re: Kid related questions

when did you switch your car seat to fwd facing?
I don't have kids but I love the Pea Pod.
They're really big, lots of ventilation and easy to clean.
We used a beach umbrella. It worked just fine.
And exp- N is about 30 lbs & almost 20 months, and we switched him about a month ago. . Whatever you do, don't ask this on 12-24. They will bite your f'ing head off.
We have some friends that have this and rave about it. We are thinking of getting one, but haven't yet.

We RFed until 22 months. I would have done it longer but we had to rearrange the seats to accommodate Owen and Mike couldnt drive with Maggie RFing behind his seat. I looked at a lot of the information on extended rear facing and felt like the longer we could do it the better, she didn't know any different and like the RFing nazis say, I'd rather deal with a broken leg than a broken neck.
I'm borrowing a beach tent from One Step Ahead for our trip next week.
Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
I highly recommend a sun shelter. We used one in Florida and it was so worth it. It came from D-i-c-k's, and our friends spent about $30 on it. Super easy to put up. I don't see it on their web-site (you can sort of see it in my profile pic on Facebook).
Ian is on the small side, so I don't think we'll go forward facing for a while. I haven't done much research on it yet.
Tent - I have the peapod tent from kidco.
Carseat - not any time soon. I am going to keep him rear facing for as long as possible.
The growing slows soon, right? Ethan is already close to 14, and he's only 10 weeks. I don't want a 30 lb 1yo.
I can't remember how big Bug was at a year, but she was 20 pounds at 9 months. Waaaay back then my pediatrician just had me switch to FF.
Dimi's RF seat goes to 32 pounds, and he's not even at 20 pounds yet. Unless it's strongly recommended otherwise I think we'll switch by 2. With Bug, Mr M was worried she'd feel weird or get teased when we kept her in the booster until she was 8, but that's the norm now.
For a popup tent, living in Oregon we haven't really needed one, but we have Bug's play tent (that came with a tunnel) if we need it.
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
