yelling ATTICA may have worked
at least partially. I have a job. Only it is my old full time job. They still have to change everything to part time which they say could take weeks. They haven't even started that yet.
So, I have to work actually. I will get full time salary and they will use my personal leave days for the days I am not working. Then when the paperwork gets done we will have to do paperwork to restore my leave days and give the extra salary back.
I have no hopes that this is going to be smooth. But, I will at least be getting payed.
Re: yelling ATTICA may have worked
I am glad you have some resolution. Does that mean you will be working some days at full time and some days not at all, as opposed to all days at part time?
You know how you said that sometimes you can see a good reason to use the word 'retard'? I think now is a good time to use it. Your job is retarded. They don't treat you well.

I know. But we work with a public funds operating budget, so everything has to go through levels of approval. It makes no sense.
If anyone ever wonders why our public education system is lacking, look no further. It doesn't just affect the students.
Cali, I sent an email confirming our conversation. It's all I can do. Or I can quit.
That is crazy. I would definitely keep your union in the loop.
Do you think they're trying to pressure you into full time?
The nerve!

SB, no I don't. I think they were lazy about it and then everything is super crazy right now with layoffs, etc and no one cares.
The good thing is I get daily job offers. I can leave. I don't want to, but I will. So they could try to bully me, but I am not worried that it will back me into a corner.
I know how much you love your job and your students, and I cannot believe they are messing around with your benefits and your livelihood because they cannot take the time to ork it through. I swear if school districts would get rid of half the administrators (or hire some teachers to be administrators), there would be more money for teachers and probably less screw ups.
My mother teaches "disenfranchised" (her word, not mine) students to try to get them to finish at least HS, and the way she has had her schedule and benefits played with over the years is very frustrating. She had a great administrator for one year, and it was someone who had been a teacher. Everything went smoothly, pay raises, vacations, you name it. Then she wanted to go back to teaching, and everything went to pot.
