I survived Super Wedding! Suffice it to say that I definitely felt like I wasn't really supposed to be there. Oh, and all 10 of the groomsmen had started referring to their friend as a "groomzilla" by the time the couple pulled away in their tricked-out and condom-covered-and-filled car. (That part was funny-- especially because I think the groom was a little pissed off that they'd messed up his Beemer.)
The ceremony was an hour and 10 minutes (to those of you who are Catholic, I realize that that's nothing, but this was an outdoor Protestant ceremony; they usually take 25 minutes, tops). It started at 11:30 and went until 12:40, and we were in full sun on a very, very, very hot day. The bride didn't appear until 20 minutes into the ceremony because all 10 groomsmen and all 10 bridesmaids had to process in one-by-one. The girls came in down a VERY long aisle (literally 100 yards, with lots of stairs), and they didn't start the next girl until the one before her was completely in place on stage! The bridesmaid standing with Matt was pregnant and had to go sit down because she got light-headed, and the junior groomsman almost passed out, too.
The bride and groom each made 3 separate speeches to the "audience" during the ceremony. They each made about a zillion speeches during the reception, too (which started an hour late because they took so many pictures).
Here is the tan I accumulated just during the wedding:
Sunday was church and then we went out to the pool and read.
How about you guys?
Re: How was your weekend?
That sunburn looks ROUGH!!!!!
My weekend was good... we basically got NOTHING accomplished. Saturday morning we get a call from one of our friends begging us to come pick him and his little boyfriend up. Well, we get there and the reason that he wanted to leave so bad was because they showed up at this house to hang out with some friends and it apparently turned out to be a gay sex party that they knew nothing about. So we picked them up and in return, they helped us do yardwork. Got the front yard mowed, weed-eated and we pulled weeds from the garden. They ended up staying the night. Sunday I got SUUUUUUUPER drunk (I don't recommend taking shots of rum at 10:30 in the morning, FYI). We basically sat around and did nothing. I fell asleep in the pool which was awesome because I woke up with a perfectly flawless tan (Sorry, Kel!!).
I can't see your pic here at work - but thank God Super Sucky Wedding is over. UGH! Sounds like one big long ego-fest to me.
I bet you're so glad that's behind you!!!
We spent all wknd loving our new furbaby. My parents came for lunch on Sunday to meet her and my DH's boss stopped by to drop off our wedding present, too - a really cool wine press opener and a selection of bottles from Napa Valley. (We'd gone over 4th of July wknd and his boss and his wife also love to go to Napa!) So we're well-stocked with vino now!
It looks a lot worse than it was, actually. I always get super-red. I could hardly feel it at all, and it darkened up into a nice brown within 24 hours. But it's still impressive, right?
They had water bottles and white umbrellas there, which was thoughtful-- the problem was that the only had them for about 1/4 of the guests, and I wasn't lucky enough to get either one.
Glad it is over! That is one heck of a crazy long wedding!!! Sounds like you has a lovely time geez!!! Why do people think of no one else but themselves. At least it is over with!
I started working on the Jasmine from Aladdin costume for my daughter. Went to the mall got my rings inspected and hung out with my hubby all weekend it was a pretty relaxing weekend.
Went over to visit FIL and he is soon to be 75. He informed us that he had no AC for 2 days this last week but instead of telling us he went to motel 6 he could have stayed with us grrr silly stubborn man!!! One night he stayed at home in the heat. Its been over a 100 degrees for the past 46 days so that is just stupid. He also told us he wouldn't come over to our house because he used to bring his wife that passed over for supper and it just has to many memories! Grrrrrr
I hope the reception was better than the ceremony. I can't imagine sitting there that long for an outdoor ceremony. It sounds like a real production.
Friday night we got Chinese takeout. Saturday we didn't do much but went to a sushi place for dinner. Usually you can bring your own alcohol, but we got there and they said there was an incident the previous week so we couldn't drink anymore. Then about 5 minutes later the women at the only other table in there started yelling to call 911. One of their friends had a seizure or something and was totally unresponsive. Then one of the other women passed out because she was scared. It wasn't the evening we had planned.
Yesterday we got drunk at the pool, so that was more fun.
Friday night was the last night of our Bible School at church. We had alot of fun with the kids, but we're really glad its over! Saturday was my birthday =] We slept in and then went to some yard sales. I ended up finding 7 nice name brand shirts and got them for $.25 a piece!!!! I was really excited! We ran some errands, and while we were gone my Mom had stopped at our house and tied happy birthday balloons to our mail box lol. Saturday evening HH took me shopping and to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner. Afterwards we got "cupcakes" from Dairy Queen and went home and watched the movie "Leap Year" (awsome movie! I highly recommend it!). Sunday we spent time with our families after church and HH practiced shooting his new bow.
Ha - not necessary. I'm gonna just imagine lobster red. Kind of like this guy but Kel's not angry. Unless she's thinking about how she didn't get a water or an umbrella at Super Sucky Wedding.
I did it anyway since I'm bored at work..... this is a little extreme, but the white parts are the areas that are NOT burnt... Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure that Kelly has a head and the lower parts of her arms as well!!!! haha
LMAO stu!!!! I love that rendition of Kelly's sunburn!! Perhaps better than the original!
I worked all weekend, but I had some great patients and great co-workers, so it wasn't too bad! Plus, we had a bunch of discharges and no admissions on Saturday, so someone got to go home, and I won the drawing!! Got to leave work at 4:30 instead of 7:30!! It was nice to spend a few hours with Adam since he was going to the UFC thing later that night.
And, one of the women I work with gave Adam and I a late wedding gift - a $50 gift card to bed bath and beyond!! How sweet!!!
Oh, AND we finally got our iphones on Thursday!!! Taking some time to adjust from Blackberry to iphone, but so far so good! I definitely miss my Blackberry Messenger.
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
I had a great weekend!
Saturday we had a BBQ for my friend's birthday and I made some FAB cupcakes that I'll post about tomorrow : ) We had tons of food, wine, beer, and it was a great time! Then we all headed out to the club to dance the night away-- well, everyone but Greg, he hates dancing!
On Sunday we went hiking to this place called Ringing Rocks Park-- it's just all these rocks in the middle of the woods, but when you hit them with a hammer they make weird tones and sounds. It was super nice to get out of the city for an afternoon!
Have you ever been to Boulder Field in Hickory Run State Park (up near Scranton, PA)? Your post reminded me of it. I don't think I've hear of people hitting the rocks in Boulder field with hammers though.
I had never hear of Ringing Rocks Park but it's probably much closer. I'll have to check it out with DH sometime. Thanks for sharing.
That sunburn does not look fun. Hope you?re feeling better now.
Saturday - Grocery run for ingredients to make chili and stuffed shells and then made them for my parents. Brought the food up to my parents' house so they could freeze it. I ended up stayed for dinner. Then went home and watched TV.
Sunday ? We bought a new mattress! We needed it desperately. It comes tomorrow and I can?t wait!
