Little scary

When I was out to lunch with my mum yesterday some guy knocked on my parents' door and my sister answered. He asked for someone who he said lived on their street and my sister told him they didn't and closed the door. She called the neighbor who called the police.

I guess in my parents' neighborhood (which was listed as one of the safest places in the US to live a few years ago) there have been a series of break-ins where people are knocking on doors and if no one answers they break in, they are also following people home from CVS down the street and stealing their medication. In addition to that, a bunch of gang graffiti has shown up at the end of their street and the police have told them that the gangs are marking their territory and to be careful.

It's pretty frightening considering this is such a safe town. I know you can't be too careful but it must scare the residents with all this stuff suddenly happening. This is the sort of town where if someone calls the police for some minor incident, 5 cop cars will show up as they have nothing better to do and they spend more time getting people for running stop signs on bikes than anything "serious!"

I told my parents they should get an alarm.

Re: Little scary

  • That is scary!  Have your parents thought about moving, or like you said hopefully they get an alarm.

  • Yikes, that is scary!
