The scheduling department just called and told me that the surgery will be this Friday and that we'd have pre-tests and procedures on each of the next two days.

Oh wow! That is really fast!
You guys will definitely be in my thoughts this week and I'll be hoping for a smooth surgery and a super fast recovery for M. I really hope that seeing you guys there for him and loving him in the hospital is reassuring to him.

but i agree it gives less time to dwell. if the choice was now or 6 months from now it would be better to wait and give more bonding time.
but since it was either this week or a couple more, sooner is better because in that short time you are not going to make major leaps in bonding and it just gives him more dwelling time.
