We're not getting the pup =(
I'd prefer not to go into detail (never know who's lurking!) but basically the shelter decided we weren't a suitable home. MrShoe and I are so upset. We had already been told she was ours so we were really excited about getting her. We are looking for another one though.
Shockingly, I am way more upset about this than he is. I swear I cried all day yesterday.
Re: We're not getting the pup =(
YELP is having an adoption day tomorrow at LA Mall of Louisiana 10a-2p.
Rescues have those rules because most of the pets we get are from unwanted litters. We also have to maintain that all pets are spay/neuter to keep our 501.3C (nonprofit) status. Our rules are for the well being of the animal and to promote responsible pet ownership-you'd be surprised about how many liters come from a male breaking a fence down or jumping it while a female is in heat. Also by not spaying or neutering, you increase the chances of mammary and testicular cancer as well as several other reproductive problems.
If you go to Animal Control (or even look on craigslist or freecycle) you will see that there are many dogs/puppies available. I have personally fostered 3 purebred maltese and we are always pulling dachshunds and chi's from their imminent death. EBR euthanizes after 30 days (max). Check animal control for the perfect pup! Good luck!
