DH and I had a plan for daycare. We also have a "backup" friend who will watch DS while I go to work... but our first plan fell through until further notice. And, it's not that I don't want DS to go to the backup plan, I just don't want him to go there full time. The reasons are somewhat petty, but valid in my opinion. So, I need help! How did you find your daycare? We've looked at some, but were very displeased with most. I like the idea of home daycares, but worry constantly at the number of kids who've been abused at home daycares. I also think I almost prefer a church provider. We live in SE OKC, and I work in the downtown area, so that's a consideration too. Where do I start?!! TIA!
The length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are standing on!

What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!

Re: Moms... come in here!
When our first babysitter fell through we had about 2 weeks to find another one. I used rainbowfleet.org you can search using you zipcode and also it has the babysitter's star ratings.
Also I used http://childcarefind.okdhs.org/childcarefind/ here you can find people and see if they have had violations against them. Very helpful! I hope this helps you. I know how emotionally draining finding just the right place for your LO is. GL!
Yah. We've been begging for years for them to put in a daycare at work. Integris has one... seems only fair that OU have one too! But alas...
We are on the list for the base daycare and one other church daycare so far. The base center is the one we were counting on. They were supposed to have the new center built in time for him to start on time, but like every other military project- it didn't get done in time. So we wait. I'm not sure about the wives thing. And not sure where to look, or who to talk to about that.

I found DS's in-home provider (whom we absolute LOVE) via Craigs List. I used the state website, also, to verify her qualifications/certifications etc...and to make sure she didn't have any "issues". She also provided recommendations from other moms who raved about her.
We visited three different daycares in one day, and when I visited her I just immediately felt this was the place. The other two I just had this feeling..can't quite describe it..but it was unsettling. Complete difference when I walked into her home, and met with her and watched her in action with the other kids. FWIW, she only watches three children (one being her son) and I love the small number of kids. Makes me feel reassured that DS isn't lost in the shuffle.
To add, I've heard wonderful things about church daycares!
HTH! I know how nerve-wracking the process can be.
What about the daycare at the Methodist Church downtown?
the mom's on base is run through the same daycare as the base center but they are just for over flow? I would call the base and aske.
