I wear a lot of casual clothing to work b/c I spend time outside in woods/fields & b/c if I wear anything nicer my boss asks if I'm interviewing somewhere else. In the summer, this means a lot of t-shirts. Well, nearly all of my t-shirts have developed little holes in just about the same spot around my waistline. It's about the same height as my pant button, usually a little to the left. I've checked my desk & there's nothing jagged (plus it hits at a higher spot on my waist), and I drive different cars so I don't think it's a seatbelt issue either though I'll probably be checking them a little more carefully. DH suggested it could be my e-ring, but I haven't had problems in the past so I don't see why that would be tearing stuff now. And considering how I unbutton my pants to go to the bathroom, I'd have to be putting my hand at a weird angle for it to be screwing w/ my shirt. It's so bizzare, I can't figure out what might be causing it. Suggestions?
Re: A mystery for you
I was thinking this same thing. Maybe the seat belt rubs your shirt against the button of your pants to make the hole?
My brown eyed girl. :-)
Sounds like the most logical explanation to me.

Oh, could be. I'll have to start wearing my other belt:
I think you should do an experiment:
wear one shirt only while you work
wear another shirt while you drive/ride in the car
...which one has the hole?
I was just complaining about this to DH the other day!! It is very mysterious! I don't normally wear my t-shirts out so it's not a seatbelt issue. I usually only wear them to bed or just around the house with sweatpants so I don't think it's from rubbing against the button or seams on my jeans. It's so odd that it is in the same place on almost all of my t-shirts! Now that my belly is getting much bigger the holes are stretching so that just looks fantastic!
Maybe I should clean my belly button a little better??
We have laminate countertops and I don't think I lean up against them too much. The main area that I work in is in a corner, so I think if I got a hole on my front from the counters I'd probably also get one on my side b/c I will sometimes lean sideways while doing work there.
Maybe I'll just not wear a shirt at all and then I'll notice when my skin is being scratched.
This sounds like a good plan!
I have not had this problem, I hope you figure it out.
