I didn't get the 3rd grade job... But I did accept an offer for my K job. I'm excited to be back at my school and with my job again!
But... Now I have to quit the pre-school. I don't want to "burn bridges" with them so I want to word it nicely as possible. I've never quit a job before so any suggestions?
I promise after this my neediness will go away!
Thanks ladies!!
Re: F/U: Rationalize
I'm sorry about the 3rd grade position, but at least you're staying with your school so that's good! Believe me, if I had a nickel for every rejection I've gotten, I could buy a beach mansion, then wallpaper it with my rejection letters!
Hm, I would say, "Thank you so much for the invitation to work at your lovely school. I very much appreciate your offer, and would love to have stayed in your community. However, I have accepted another position for the year at a school I was established with. Again, thank you for your offer, and perhaps our paths will cross again in the future."
Sorry to hear you didn't get the 3rd grade position. But yay for the kindergarten position!
I like what Kab had to say. Most of all, just be honest with them. Thank them for wanting you to work in their program, however, you received a offer that is more aligned with your career goals/interests. And definitely get the contact info of the director.
We had a teacher quit (for different reasons) right before our pre-planning/curriculum meetings. While our director was upset at first, she quickly found a lady to replace her. Since jobs are so scarce these days, I am sure they will find another great person to replace you.
Thanks for the support and ideas!
I called her and told her what was going on and she was understanding. I know they knew that the pre-school wasn't exactly where I wanted to be. I'm happy that part is over with and now I can move onto my (new?) job!
