Um hello police

H and I just got home from dinner at our friends' house and came home to police searching our street with flashlights. As we left, we were informed by my dad (who is the landlord of the place we live in) that the U.S. Marshall had requested permission to park in a driveway of one of the places to do surveillance for a couple days.

Needless to say we're a bit uneasy and have all of the windows and doors latched down.

Re: Um hello police

  • Crazy!  Stay indoors and don't open the door unless you know them.

Once, years ago, my ex and I were driving back into my neighborhood. On the way down the hill by the playground, we saw several cops and a few dogs.  We both wondered out loud what was going on and then sort of let it go.

Once we were at the house, we were out on the deck looking out at the boat slips.  We saw someone walking around on the dock, right around a pontoon boat.  When he walked in front of the light on the dock, I gasped and told my ex that I thought the guy was naked.  And then he started to untie boats!  We untied two pontoon boats and one speed boat.  One of the pontoons floated out of the marina and into the lake.  The other one slammed into the bank.

So we called 911.  And within MINUTES, the same cops we saw earlier were heading that way.  The lady officer found us on the balcony and asked where the guy and gone.  We pointed them further down the dock and watched them go after him.  Then we heard them yelling, "Get out of the boat!  Now!  Out or I let the dog come and get you!"

We were spellbound...couldn't look away.  Finally, they got him into custody and headed back up to the parking lot.  The lady cop and another cop came back over to thank us for calling.  They had been looking for him for over an hour.

He lived in the apartments near the entrance with his wife, whom he had gotten into an argument with and slammed her head into the sliding glass door!!  Holy crap!

But before the cops left, I asked if the guy was wearing clothes, or if he was shirtless with khaki pants.  She said all he had on was socks!  EW!  They had NO idea where his clothes had gone.

Yikes! That's crazy! I seriously have to wonder about people sometimes.  We don't live in the best part of town so I'm sure it's something drug related but the fact that the U.S. Marshall is in for means it's a little bit bigger than your every day drug bust around here.  We're definitely staying locked inside tonight and I'm thankful that I have to go to work in the morning and not be at home by myself like I usually am.

  • See, I keep hoping Tommy Lee Jones is going to show up at your door saying they are looking for Wesley Snipes.  LOL.  Every single time I see the words "US Marshals", I think of that movie.

Yeah, people are deranged.  Truth be told, the apartments that the man and his wife lived in were not known for having the most well behaved tenants.  Something was ALWAYS happening up there.

If you find out anything else, come tell us!

  • Oh I hope nothing bad happens! Be careful! Hopefully it is just some big drug bust, which I understand can be dangerous, but I think is much better than some killer person.

All the stories on the news about some of these people living in good areas and noone ever knowing what's going on in the houses--- kinda crazzyy

Knibs- that's such a weird story!  I think my favorite part is that he only had socks on though.  Hehehe

  • Be careful!  It is scary, but I must admit I'm intrigued.  I wonder what they are "surveying".  Mobster?  Gathering evidence from tapped phones on an embezzling CEO?  Someone on the lam, but they're not sure?  I'd be making up all kinds of scenarios... from inside my house with locked doors and windows, of course :)

Haha I know.. I sat here last night building up scenarios and trying to figure out who it was.  The Marshall is kind of obvious.  Sitting in a nice van with a couple guys sitting the backseat.  We have some nosy neighbors... I'm sure some have figured it out.
Nothing happened last night that I know of, but the van that the Marshall is in is back so apparently the situation isn't completely over.

  • Scary!  Hope everything works out.  I heard screaming and shouting the other night - 4 police were outside in our condo complex looking for someone who has broken into condos.  The girls kept asking me, "mama - what is all that screaming."  "Me - Oh - the neighbors are fighting..."

    Good luck!
