So I posted our queen bed on craigslist yesterday. I received a two responses. One is going to give me full price, didn't even offer less. This was the response.....does this sound a little "off" to you? If it does, what shoudl I say to make sure it is Legit?

Thanks for the response... I'm okay with the condition and price of the item and ready for its purchase. My form of payment will by sending you Check via Fedex next day air delivery.

I'll be responsible for the pick-up and the movers fee will be included in your payment to avoid delay and to enable pick up company to schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your location after check has been cashed as I have other properties to be moved alongside the item.

And secondly , Kindly delete the posting as am definitely buying it from you and it would be sad for me to have the payment in the mail only to be informed of the its sale.I will also wait for you to cash the check before i have my mover come for pick up.

Would have love to come over for viewing but I'm afraid that might not be possible due to my work frame. If you have more pics please send so I can have a good look. Do get back to me with your full name and address (not p.o box) including your cell and land number so I can make out payment.Also am deaf and will like to be contacted via email

Wow. I Just thought since they said they would send payment first and wouldn't send movers until it was cashed and cleared the bank, we were good to go.

If you haven't, I wouldn't even respond to the email. This is definitely a scam. My cousin had this when she sold some furniture. The emailer threatened to call FBI on her, etc., so she took all the info to the police. He said he'd wait for you to cash it, not for it to clear. More than likely, the check will bounce. Or, it could be some sort of laundering scheme where you cash it, then they ask for a refund.

I get so annoyed with those emails. We Craigslist all the time (literally about once/week) because it's so convenient, but those emails have really increased since I first started using it 3 years ago and it makes me loathe posting things. I get excited when I see I have a reply and want to yell expletives when I open it to find stuff like that, LOL.

We were taken in by a scam like this last year. It wasn't through Craigslist, but a check sent to us in the mail in the amount of $3000. We thought it was money from selling some stocks, so we just deposited it as usual. A MONTH later, we check our account and it has 3k less in it than should be there, and we were horrified. Two weeks of talking with the bank, and we end up being told that people do that kind of thing all the time, and it was in fact money taken from a totally innocent person's bank account. They used the info on the check to track it back to someone in Idaho or something. Not to mention, the bank also said that we may be contacted for a formal investigation of US since WE were the ones who deposited the check. Of course we said we'd cooperate however we could, since we were completely innocent. We ended up having to pay the whole amount back, but the whole thing was a nightmare. You just have to be very careful these days!

I agree with pp, it does sound like a scam. FWIW, I just wanted to point out that Deaf people can call numbers too if they have a video phone. They can use their phone to call video relay, who interprets the Deaf person on the video and calls a hearing person's phone. It's just not as easy and they can't access it in public, like you can your email on a blackberry.

Yeah, but deaf people can also receive telephone calls. In fact, they can also make them without video phones with a device called TDD. In 7th grade my BFF's parents were deaf and they had TDD. This is absolutely a scam.

Thanks, I guess should have been more clear that they can also receive them. I totally forgot about TTD! We've had a lot of issues at work trying to get the videophones to work recently and so they are at the top of my mind. Thanks again!

Yeah, that was my point. They aren't able to receive calls, but they can call people. The logic wasn't quite right. I'm highly confident this scumbag is indeed not deaf.

Sorry, I know this is totally off subject, but do you work at USA Relay? I worked at the one in Lubbock for 3 years and knew there was an Austin branch. I thought it was a wonderful company to work for so I just thought I would ask!
