High Protein Snacks

What do you guys eat for protein snacks? I'm trying to eat more protein because I think that's why I never have any energy. I started out with hummus, cheese sticks, and eggs. I'm eating a quinoa salad right now which I think is high protein. But I feel like I'm gonna get sick of this stuff quick.

Re: High Protein Snacks

  • greek yogurt has a lot of protein.  adding peanut butter or almond butter to a piece of fruit (banana, apple, pear) is great.  I also grab kashi bars to keep in my car or purse (cherry dark chocolate are the best).

  • You can wrap a slice of deli turkey around string cheese.

I eat a lot of cottage cheese and fruit

Tuna (throw in a few mini tomatoes)

    Oatmeal

I have eaten roasted chickpeas (drizzle in EVOO and some spices and roast)

Greek yogurt is a good suggestion. I cannot stand the texture, but it is a good source of protein.

    Edamame

    Here are some more ideas.

  • I love fat free greek yogurt with almonds and strawberries.
  • Like melpaff said, PB and fruit is always a good option esp. with a banana the potassium could definitely help too.

Punky, your chickpea snack sounds delicious!

My suggestion is by far the laziest, I usually grab a luna bar, they're no effort and keep my energy up and give me a sweet fix too.

  • The Fiber One PB bars on not bad.
  • Thanks for the wonderful suggestions!

Punky, that chikpea snack DOES sound amazing and I'm obsessed with chickpeas!

  • Have you ever tried protein smoothies? I have these after a workout to help with soreness (I always thought it was for bodybuilders and for bulky muscles.... SO not true! Trust me, I am no bodybuilder haha). You can also have them in the morning for breakfast, or even for dessert. I get so full from them and it gives me a ton of energy :o)  I use a chocolate protein powder (look for whey protein isolate, not concentrate), and I mix it with Silk soy milk, Greek yogurt and some ice. I only use like one scoop. Put it in a container and take it to go!

  • Beef/turkey jerky is good!  I know it sounds gross, but it is actually tasty and protein packed!
