Computer-smart people??

Any of you ladies (or your husbands) a computer genius?  I keep getting the blue screen of death on my netbook.  It keeps saying something about a "USB bugcode driver error" or something like that.  I haven't installed any new software or hardware.  I have virus protection and nothing is popping up.  Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Re: Computer-smart people??

  • Does restarting it fix the problem? Which operating system are you using (like Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X)?

I googled your error to see what I could find. This link might be helpful.

It's for Windows XP. It looks like they might have a service pack to fix the problem.

  • I'm using Windows 7.  This happens almost every other day if I've been on the computer a lot.  I'll check out the link!  Thanks!

  • From my Googleing, it looks like this is happening a lot in Vista. I"m trying to find something about Windows 7 for you.

    I found this site: http://www.bugcodeusbdriver.com/bugcode-usb-driver-how-to-fix-bugcode-usb-driver-error-easily/

It says it's a Registry error or corruption, but it's all about you downloading something from them. I'm suspicious of sites that want you to download stuff. I haven't looked into the site to see if it is a scam or for real.

  • I took a look at the first link you posted and found some stuff related to Windows 7, but it was all greek to me... they kept talking about "mini-dumps" which sent me into a giggle-fit.  I swear, I'm like 12.  I had no clue what they were talking about.  What I gathered from it all, is that most people are having issues when they plug something into the USB port.  I've never plugged anything into mine... it just happens randomly.  Grrr... I hate technology sometimes!!

  • Haha, mini-dump.  I have no idea what that means either. My husband is the one with the actual tech experience. I'm learning.
