Book Recs?

DH and I are going to the beach in a couple of weeks, and I need to pick up some books. Any recs? I like lighthearted, chick lit type books - nothing too serious while laying on the beach. Ha.

Re: Book Recs?

  • Well, I just finished the Girl with the Dragon tattoo series. While it's not light hearted chick lit, it was really good!
  • Probably should add that I've read all (or almost all) of the books written by Sophie Kinsella, Emily Giffin, Jen Lancaster, Jennifer Wiener, Jane Green, etc.
  • i really like sarah strohmeyer's books...the cinderella pact, the penny pinchers club, shoe-holics anonymous.

Thanks. I haven't heard of Sarah Strohmeyer before.

But if you like lighthearted chick lit, this isn't it.

  • If you like cop stories, I'm reading a Jeffrey Deaver book from the Lincoln Rhyme series right now.

    ooh, this too!

  • I am currently reading Girl On Top. It's a book about relating your career/job to dating and how to deal. It's actually pretty cool. I am one of those going through a career/job thing right now so it's perfect for me.
  • I have a couple (can't think of their titles off the top of my head) that are good beach reads, kinda like sex in the city. I'd be happy to loan them out to you.

I'd also love to do a book swap if anyone is interested in setting it up. I have books that I buy for the beach and read once but I'm too lazy to try to sell them. I also cringe at spending $15-20 for new books that I only read once.

  • My Horizontal Life or Are You There, Vodka, It's me Chelsea? by Chelsea Handler; anything by Celia Rivenbark - she is hilarious. I really like David Sedaris for beach/poolside reading too.
  • Falling is like this by Kate Rockland- Shameless plug, my friend wrote it but its hysterical. She used to write for NY times and Rolling stone, its a chick lit book about punkrockers, LOVED it1
