Who's Ready for some Football?
Alright! I'll be brave and start a sports themed post :-) I am a rabid, die hard football fan, and of course, I bleed purple/black for them Baltimore Ravens!!!
Who else bleeds a color other than red this time of year, and who are you rooting for? Any predictions for your team this season? And of course, who do you HATE??? (I apologize in advance if any of you are from Pittsburgh!..hahaha!)

Re: Who's Ready for some Football?
DH & I at the Light Festival
Ugh, sore subject. I like sports. Really, I do. But since I've been with DH, I loathe September and October. He is a big Yankees fan so those games are on in our house every friggin night in the summer and of course they always make the post-season so I have to deal with that until like late October. Then football season starts, and all day Sunday is spent watching football. And he gets so angry when his team (the Cowboys) loses. The 2 months that the sports overlap are torture.
To answer your question - technically I'm an Eagles fan (yep, a Cowboys fan and an Eagles fan). As a matter of fact, I used to be a HUGE Eagles fan, knew all the stats, etc. But, they broke my heart when they recruited Michael Vick and completely ripped it to pieces when they traded Westbrook and McNabb and I just don't feel the same about them. So, I might just sit out this season; I suspect they're going to suck this year anyway.

PATRIOTS !!!!!!!!
lol - born and raised in New England, I love bill belichick i think he is a gd genius. i also love tom brady, not necessarily for his god like looks, but more so for his tremendous atheistic abilities... sure hoping he grows some balls this season tho... he def babied himself last season!
9 Glorious Months!
My Photography Blog!
College football fan here! Love my alma mater, Texas Tech and the Florida Gators(parent's alma mater) I cannot stand the UT Longhorns because I think the fans are 90% bandwagoners.
Also love the Cowboys!! Since I moved to the Texans territory, I know I am going to miss some games because sometimes they overlap
I am so excited for football watching all day Saturday. DH and I have been doing that every year since we have started college except for last year because we were long distance and it just didn't feel the same.
Ah hell - I bleed silver and blue for my Lions and I hope they can win 6 games this year.
I hate arrogant athletes so I have to apologize to all you Pats fans - Tom Brady is fulla himself like nobody's business. I guess he has a reason to be - superbowl rings and a hot wife - but I still just can't stand arrogant athletes. Bret Favre annoys me too.
@Rands - my 2nd home team is Pittsburgh (I can't swing a dead cat in the air in that city without hitting a cousin!). But I won't hold it against you!
I like watching football, DH and I have been watching football (Eagles esp but we watch other games too) (and Flyers hockey!!) all fall/winter long. We watch baseball too (Phillies) so we are definitely avid sports fans. It does get difficult to get anything done b/c there are always games to watch all weekend long!
I agree kinda w/Lori about the Eagles but I will still watch just to see what happens. And I am sorry Lori that you have to be torn between Eagles and the Cowboys, being from Philly that is a tough pill to swallow. :-)

I hate hate hate the Vikings (obvious) and the Steelers (sorry Pitt fans)!

I cannot wait for football season!! It was such a great feeling to see preseason football on Sunday night!
Living in New England, I've grown up a Patriots fan. I'll always love the Pats, but over the last 5 years I have become a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan. DH has loved the 'Boys since birth, and I think he's passed some of his blue and silver blood to me. I've just grown to love them - so much so that DH and I are going down to Dallas in October to catch a game.
I absolutely cannot stand the New York Giants! They're hated by both my Patriots fan side and my Cowboys fan side.
Oh yeah!! This is what I'm talking about :-) I can tell we're going to have some good potential for "Monday Morning QB" posts once the season begins...lol...
I also am a huge fan of College football...I attended an all female college that (obviously!) did not have football, but I love me some Gators and of course, the Terps!
And yeah - Tom Brady was always one of my favs, but he's been whimping out and worse, yelling and blaming his teammates when plays go wrong...guess he NEVER makes a mistake, huh?
I am sooooo ready for the new season(s)...hope to hear from some of you ladies on "Monday Mornings"!! To cheer or boo what happened on the previous Sunday :-)
Ok...our house is very divided! For college football, I support the 'Horns (dad went to school there) and DH...well he bleeds that maroon color of the Aggies. Yes, DH drags me to the A&M games so I will (out of love I guess) will wear that nasty shirt for the day....If it is an away game...I will sit at home in my burnt orange shirt...
For NFL...DH supports only the Texans...You will not be invited into the house if you are wearing another sports' team logo. I support the Texans some, but support the Cowboys more since we went without a team here in Houston for awhile...DH knows this, but we do not discuss it...
Oh, there's no being torn. Despite DH's best efforts, I loathe the Cowboys. Not crazy about the Giants and/or Jets either even though they play like 10 minutes from my house.
I seem to be team-less this season. Maybe I'll pick a random team just to have someone to root for; I like the Saints and/or the Bears...
The whole Eagles thing really is heartbreaking. It's like hearing that someone you loved betrayed you. The organization has really let me down (and all of its fans, really). I'm sure I'll still keep an eye on my Iggles, but I don't want to get too sucked in; it's like trying to avoid a guy who you're crazy about but know is bad for you.

Lori I'm glad to hear you're still a good Philadelphia fan, loathing the Cowboys :-) In my house we dislike the Cowboys also b/c the kids BM is from TX so that's more reason for us besides just being good Philly fans. (Alex and I grew up in the Philly suburbs)
I am disappointed they let Westbrook go, however I expected McNabb to go because it seemed no matter how many opportunities they couldn't quite make it. Oh well, they (the organization/mgmt) made their bed with the choices and they will have to lie in it.

I bleed green and gold for the Packers!!! And no I do not follow the Vi-queens because of Brett Farve!
I watch the games pretty religiously....and of course my second husband, Greg Jennings, is AWESOME! Loving that a lot of sports columnists are picking "us" to make it to the Superbowl this year!!
Shmel's Blog
Where the hell is Danie at???? My fellow Lions cheerleader!
I cannot tell a lie. Pittsburgh is my 2nd home team - but I am not a Steelers fan. And I will deny it till the day I die if you tell that to my family.
I cheered for the Seahawks in '06 for the superbowl. But I sure as schitt will go down for a game if my cousin misses any with his season tickets!
Oh baby, yes I am ready for some football! Diehard Patriots fan here (I guess I bleed in triplicate colors, red, white AND blue)! And I live in Giants territory (live 3.5 miles from the stadium) so I was pretty miserable most of 2008... and it still hurts, lol! I don my Belichick hoody every game though. Almost afraid for this season... I don't care one way or another about Tom Brady as a person (actually I suppose I'd rather not think about his personal life... just play the game, man!), though I'm glad he's OUR quarterback and not someone else's (hmmm.... but if he got traded for Drew Brees... then, maybe)!
Most of my favorite players have been traded or retired -- Seymour, Bruschi, Vrabel, Vinatieri, especially, but glad that Randy Moss, Matt Light and Wes Welker are still there... so, we shall see... I have been a Pats fan since I could walk (my mom dragged me to the games when I was a kid and wouldn't let me read books in the stands --- I was so bored as a kid but eventually the game grew on me and now I can't get enough of it)!
The enemy: The GIANTS (grrrrr...), the Colts (though I have a soft spot for Peyton Manning), the Cowboys... the Steelers... heck, everybody's the enemy! But I have respect for the Saints, the Chargers (got folks in San Diego) and actually the steelers too... and I'm sad that McNabb is no longer with the Eagles... I like him too!
Basically, I love football... bring it on!

Kiki! - OMG you may be my twin!!! My love affair with football (and baseball...ok...all sport!) began when I was just a toddlin' too! My Dad and Mom were season ticket holders for the Colts and O's, and we rarely missed games...With me though, I took to sport like a duck to water...wanna know what my 4th grade leisure reading was? The autobiographies of Earl Morrell, Johnny U, Bert Jones, Big Daddy Lipscomb...you get the idea!
It was totally normal for me to want to read sports autobiographies and stories about the history of the game instead of whatever most 9 year old girls read at the time...hehehe!!
We have a pre-season game against the Skins in 10 days...can't wait to get a look at the revamped Skins...while I bleed purple and black, I also realize, as you also apparently do...that the game is too wonderful and too large to focus on only one team!
Looking forward to chatting with you as the season progresses!
