Mommmm, I'm BORED! (Vent)

If I hear 'Mommmmm I'm borrrrrred' in a whining voice one more time, my little guy may find my hands wrapped around his neck!  This kid goes to Summer Day Camp Mon - Fri.  They go on 1 - 2 field trips a week and do all kinds of activities at the park - like really cool activities, not just hop scotch or dodgeball.  We're talking water slides brought to the park, nature shows, cultural days (Polynesian, Indian, French, Mexican, Irish, Native American etc), bbq's, crafts, all kinds of sports.  Plus, he has soccer practice 2x per week and at least one scrimmage per week, usually two, and a game on Saturday mornings.  Let me tell you where this kid has been this summer either with me or day camp:

Knott?s Berry Farm

Wild Rivers

Knott?s Soak City (twice)
Aquarium of the Pacific (twice)

Bowling

Ice rink

Roller rink

Boomer?s

Orange County Fair

US Open of Surfing

Sightseeing in Los Angeles

Mummies of the World at the California Science Center

Angel?s Baseball Game

Numerous professional soccer matches

Numerous days at the beach

Several movies

Discovery Science Center

Go Kart World

Tide pools

Queen Mary

Harbor cruise

God, now I am wondering how much I have spent on this kid! He is going to be sorry he called me today to tell me he is 'BORRRREEEEDDDD'!!!!  My head hurts now, I am glad I made a list, printing it out for him right now!

Vent over, the end.

Re: Mommmm, I'm BORED! (Vent)

  • My kids are exactly the same and it drives me NUTS.  The other one that kills me is "there's nothing to eat"  Really?  Cause I see plenty to eat in the kitchen.  Seriously, girls with babies....enjoy it now.
  • Oh My GOD!  I know!  My girls are the exact same way!!  You've unleashed me now, those two better not call me at lunch time telling me they are hungry because 'There's NOTHING to eat'!!
  • LOL! I think there's a lot to be said for teaching kids to entertain and cook for themselves. Having said that, I was terrible at entertaining myself as a kid! I think it's part of the standard teenage whine!

Maybe so....but that knowledge makes it no less irritating for the parents.  It's like nails on a chalk board.

  • Haha not that I'm a mom yet... But I've played somewhat of a guiding role to my cousin & my nephews....

took my cousin (last year when she was 17) and her gf to socal to see colleges without their parents.... Afterwards, it was "cool. But let me tell you about the dating gossip instead!" ugh. And this year, if we want to spend time with her, it's "you have to make date."

I'm thinking "girl! I changed your diapers, took you on overnight trips, helped with you homework... You're hanging out with me when I say so and you're gonna like it!" hahahaha of course, I told her in a nicer way.

and my sister's oldest, 6 years old, is sometimes convinced he wants a new family. Hahaha

mh has never had to care for kids before so he has no clue.... Hahaha

  • Or this one: "who's going & what am I gonna do there?"

my response: "you're going & I'm sure you'll figure something out."

hahahaha I think I can go on too!!!! And i have no kids of my own! Hahahaha!!!!!

My tactic isn't the nicest, I usually say something back in the exact same tone of voice and when they hear me do their tone of voice, they tend to realize just how annoying they sound. There's nothing like learning from modelling.

  • Kini, I totally know the scenario's you give!  Especially with the girls, they are so worried about who, what, when, where, how and why.  LOL, everything is DRAMA!

I think I am a very good role model for my kids and yet they still pull out all the stops.

I have many teen years left therefore, much more venting to do.  Hell, S is only turning 12 this year!  Oldest D is turning 16 and youngest D just turned 14.
