NBR: Changing signed name?
This is probably a dumb question:
Can you change your signature? When we got married, I started signing my name the same as I did before, even though my name got longer. I basically write my whole name out in cursive. I have a long name though, and I'm lazy - so recently I have started shortening it when I sign for credit cards and stuff. But what if I wanted to change it always?
Of course I am thinking about this because our house closing is today, and I am dreading signing my long a$$ name that takes forever each time - and wishing I had just did a short signature 
Does it matter if I just sign my shortened name, or will they care that it doesn't match my bank signature card, etc?

I have a couple of different signatures that I use depending on my mood/level of laziness that day... sometimes I sign my entire (long) name, sometimes It's my first initial and half of my last name, sometimes my first and last initial with an illegible squiggle, usually just a cursive-y JER (my initials).
I've never had anyone come after me because they got their sleuth on and noticed that my siggys didn't match. As long as it's you holding the pen, I don't think they care.
On closing papers you will have to sign your name exactly as it is presented on the papers every time and always the same. I had a legible signature and had to go back and put in my middle initial in for every signature. My husband just did his normal scribble and they couldn't tell any legible letters so he was fine. So if you just sign it with no actual letters you'll be fine. Otherwise you need to sign it exactly as it is printed on the documents.
