Re: Are you superstitious?
Ditto.
This has been a crazy day. I'm just now being able to respond to my own post. Maybe it's a Friday the 13th thing.
I would say sometimes, but only about certain things. I say "knock on wood" and I do "X" out black cats that run in front of my car, but that's about it.
I am extremely superstitious (I was actually raised that way), but not about Friday the 13th and not about black cats (I *love* black kitties!).
The superstitions that I was raised with sort of stuck with me throughout the years. Not necessarily because I believe in them whole heartedly, but because it's more of a tradition for me and it's how I was raised.
When I was growing up, if any of us had nightmares my mom would refuse to hear them until we ate something.
We throw salt over our left shoulder if we spill some. I wear some form of evil eye jewelry *always* (usually a bracelet)... I keep it on in the shower and when I'm sleeping. If I see a hearse, I spit. I'll wait until no one is looking if there are people around lol, but I'll do it regardless.
The funny thing is, my mom is totally down to Earth about EVERYTHING other than her superstitions. Like I said... I think they are more stemmed from a family tradition than actual belief, and I think they are Middle Eastern superstitions because she got them from my grandmother, and my grandmother got them from my great grandmother, etc. etc.
