My new favorite pasttime...
...is looking at houses for sale on craigslist that fall into our theoretical budget. We've come to the conclusion that whenever I get a permanent job, we're buying a house (loan permitting). We've also come to the realization that said house will 98% for sure have to be outside of Austin city limits in order to afford the taxes on it! lol
Area homeowners, would you mind telling me where you live (generally, not your address
) and what percent of your home value your taxes are? I'm so confused by taxes! I saw one listing for a house that was $150K and it said the tax rate was 2.2% (150K*.022=3300) but said actual taxes were $4500 (3%).
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.
