Re: I sure could use a carribean vacation

  • My husband is living it up in the city with da boys.  I'm home with a bottle of vino.

  • Fantasy fabric shopping. I think I'm going to take Bethie's tip and put some cool fabric on stretcher frames so I'm seeing what's out there.

  • Nice!  My parents had something like that, a cool piece of batik fabric on a stretcher frame.  Unique, cheap wall art, for sure.

  • Yeah, I can't believe it just occurred to me! I was actually thinking of getting a stencil and painting something, which would likely end very badly. I'm currently obsessed with damask so I'm trying to find some in funky colors to go with my orange damask pillows.

I know Bethie's sister did it and the frames are SUPER cheap at Ikea.

  • Moo, apparently it's just you, me and the lurkers around these parts tonight.  You staying in or heading out for some fun tonight?

  • Oh I'm in for the night. I'm an old lady these days, haha. Apparently I'm going to my mom's tomorrow to separate Christmas stuff with the ex, which sounds just super. Hopefully my soft pretzels will take away some of the awky.

  • That is not going to be a dope asss day.

  • It could be WORSE, I suppose. We're doing better than we have been, but still, not how I want to spend my Sunday. At least it's all neutral-ground and stuff. And, hey, pretzels!

Speaking of, if you have a mixer and like soft pretzels, make these: http://www.foodmayhem.com/2009/02/mixer-made-soft-pretzels.html So freakin good. And so easy. I am not a very precise baker or chef and I've yet to screw these up.

  • No stand mixer here, but I'm not anti-kneading.  Those look good, they'd be great for a football/tailgating type party with a variety of dips.  You could do some savory with cheese and mustard type dips, and some sweet with cream cheese frosting types dips.  Yum.

  • There's a place near here that has a pretzel app where they give you three dips-- a mustard one, a spicy cheese one, and a cinnamon butter. SO good. The ones in that recipe come out so buttery, like Auntie Anne's pretzels, which are a major weakness of mine.

I also now want to try these stuffed pretzels, from the same site. The only thing that makes soft pretzels better is cheese. http://www.foodmayhem.com/2009/06/pretzel-dogs-and-stuffed-pretzels.html

I was going to make the pretzels tomorrow morning but I may do it now. And dip them in my chipotle hummus. Just finished eating tacos for dinner? Who? Me? Naaaahhhhhh ...

  • I regret making pretzels. They still have a half hour left to rise and all I want to do is get in bed.

  • WENDAAAY. I was just thinking about you yesterday. How are you? Update on how you and Connor are doing? How is the ex situation?

Ignore my prying questions if you want. I hope you're doing well.

  • vodka is NOT my friend.  Just so everybody knows
  • I've been sofreakingbusy with work. I've put in 2 100 hr weeks so far on this trip, but I think we're cutting back to 12 hr days now. Jens, things are fine with J and with Connor. These days. I've gotten to call a few times at least. No drama with J most of the time, but every now and then it's not fun.

  • 100 hour weeks?? Holy crap woman. Glad to hear it's going to slow down at least a bit. Also glad to hear that things are going relatively well in the J situation. :)
