Idea for the crib bumper

So I plan to get a breathable mesh bumper instead of using the one that came with our bedding set for safety reasons. I hate to waste the bumper, so I was thinking about getting a large piece of fabric and cutting squares from the bumper and sewing on the fabric as pockets to store things. WDYT? The bumper consists of squares anyway so it works out well. I may have to ask my mum to do it for me though as I think it would be better done on a sewing machine.

This is a pic of the quilt but the bumper is the same design:

Good idea or would you do something else?

  • I am using my bumper in her crib. I hated the breathable ones and Emmy still got her hands and feet stuck.

You could always cut it up in sections and make pillows?

This.  I was more worried about him getting stuck than not breathing.  Kid sleeps on his face in the middle of the crib anyway, lol

I like the idea of pockets... at least until she is old enough to empty them =/.  Pillows are nice too!  Especially if you have a chair of some sort you can prop them under you when feeding/rocking or laying on the floor, and she can use them too!

    I love that quilt, btw!
