  • I've done most of it, but I still have to do everything car related - license, title, registration, voter registration.  I also have to change my name on my 403b and my beneficiaries.

  • I changed mine with SSA and the DMV today also.  The girl at the Clerk of Court office waived the fee to get certified copies of my license :)  And there was NO wait at SSA.

     Tomorrow:  banks, credit cards, work

  • Wahoo!!!  Hopefully it isn't too difficult for all of you.  I know it was a much easier process than I thought it would be.

  • I DID THIS TODAY TOO!!! I have basically everything done except my credit card and my teaching certificate. It took several hours, but I'm officially Mrs. Thien now!!!

  • Oh yay! I did mine with the ssc and MVD yesterday. And though it may not make it legal, I changed my name on Facebook to ^_^    Now I just need to deal with credit cards, opening a new bank account because I hate the bank I'm with now, and dealing with school. Ugh. I was thinking of not dealing with school, but I figured that I might want to be called Hope Pino when I graduate this December. Hopefully I'll have that all taken care of by this time next week. I'm a slacker.

I am soooo jealous! I went yesterday, early, and there was a huge wait. Even more irritating is that most of the people in line in front of me got to the window without all the documents they needed and proceeded to argue with the people working for a longer amount of time than it even ended up taking me to get the name change done. Fail.

I still have to go to the DMV, register to vote, and change my name on a few minor things (mag. subscriptions, etc.). At least SS, banks, and insurance are done!

  • i got mine done yesterday too! now onto the credit cards and mortgage and all the little stuff but then im done :)

  • Yay!!!

I did mine the week we got back from our honeymoon. I figured why wait since we had our marriage license and everything. The process was super easy for me too - which I wasn't expecting. Every time I've needed to get something done at the RMV, I've had to go AT LEAST 2 times to get it done. Luckily, I was in and out of the RMV in 10 minutes with my name changed on my license and registration! My new license and SS card came in the mail last week - so weird and exciting all at the same time.

I've got most of the bills and stuff changed over to my new last name. Just a few straglers and I'm pretty much done. At least I think I am!

  • Yea!  I am slacking with the name change process.  I was all excited about getting my SS changed and my license.  Now that those are done, I can not find the motivation to do the rest!  Though, it was really exciting getting a new license with my new name on it :)

  • I did the SS and DMV right away. They were pretty easy for me...

Lately, I have been checking others off the list: bank stuff, CCs, HR stuff for work (payroll and health insurance). I still need to do the auto stuff, though. Ugh. Do I really HAVE to change the name on the title of my car?? I feel like this one will be a pain...

  • I was so excited to finally get my triple seal copy of our marriage license yesterday.  I was planning to go in to the SS office this morning, but the cold I've been fighting the past two days won today, and I didn't go anywhere.  I have to work tomorrow, so now I have to wait until Friday to go there, and I just know they will be packed.  Does anyone know if I need to wait until I have the new SS card to do my driver's license, bank account, etc.?

  • Yayyy!

Not sure how it goes in the US, in Alberta it was frighteningly simple (originally from Ontario where you have to wait at least 90 days).  I just went in to the Registry (DMV) and changed my last name on my drivers licence and had to show the record of marriage (paper priest signed day of ceremony).  With my new temp licence I was able to go and change everything else.

Hope this helps.  Oh and in the mean time while I was waiting for all of my new id, credit cards, etc to come in the mail, it felt so weird, in between names so to say..... such a weird feeling... didn't know what to sign on stuff haha

  • I have only changed it at work.  I work in a school and wanted to start the school year off with my new name to make it easier.
