I'm in an absolutely terrible mood (a combination of bad weather and a haircut that is much shorter than I wanted it to be) so I figured a poll would be a good distraction. The store here on base has started selling in Halloween costumes (um, isn't August, still technically summer??)... so I figure if they can start getting into Halloween in August, why can't we have a Halloween poll in August?
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween?
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes?
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning)
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen?
Re: Halloween Poll
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween?
We usually have our kids' friends come over and eat pizza and then take them trick or treating and to a few local neighborhood haunted houses. We have some VERY creative people in our city! Last year, only my son wanted to trick or treat, so it was just me and his friends. Alex had to take/pick up the girls from Knott's Scary Farm and pass out candy. We have been talking about doing a Halloween party for the kids this year, maybe we need to decide soon!
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes?
We have never dressed up together, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. But I always get into the spirit of things and at least do a Halloween themed t-shirt and witches hat. MH never dresses up (boring)!
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning)
MH says he is dressing up this year as the Paleta Man. Paleta man is the mexican ice cream man with the cart and the ringy bell. They sell the fresh fruit pops. So freakin yummy!
I haven't really thought about it yet
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen?
I can't think of the best costume ever, but there is one costume that I will never forget. There was this girl with super long thick curly blonde hair. She must have been 6' tall. She wore black stilletos, black sunglasses, flawless make up, red lipstick and a black trench coat. Yes, she was a flasher. When she flashed, she had HUGE woman boobs and a super BIG and hairy man thing! It was freakin hilarious because 'she' was so mysterious and sexy until she flashed!
Hehe, how fun. I'm sorry about your haircut
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween?
the usual - NYC halloween parade and a large consumption of alcohol =P
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes?
mmm, we've only dressed up once. and it was a joint costume.
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning)
for some idiotic reason, he wants to be tobias f?nke from arrested development (i think the blue man group version). i really have no idea why the man wants to wear jeans cut-offs in october. in NYC.4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen?
hehe, we were harry potter and cho chang. DH gets "oh you look like harry potter" (or keanu reeves) a lot.
see here and here
hehehehe. needless to say, he had to take a lot of pictures with women that night. one guy even said, "uhhh, hey dude. so uhhh... my wife really loves harry potter... can she take a picture uhh with you??"
he HATES that people associate him with HP.

Hahaha! That is hilarious. I once saw a man dressed up as a woman's "thingy" (pink and all) complete with a little tuft of hair on top of his head. Haha.

1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween? We've only been together for one Halloween but that year we went downtown and bar hopped.
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes? The one year we were together we did a joint costume - a white trash couple. MH wore cut off shorts, a ratty mullet wig, and had tattoos placed on his neck, his arms (an "I love Mom" one) and chest. I wore house slippers, daisy dukes, a wife beater with a pillow underneath and a robe ala Salvation Army with the name "Flo" on the pocket. I guess I was pretty believable as being pregnant... I had to show three bouncers my "belly" before they would let me in. My phrase for the night was "pour me a double, I'm drinking for two".
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning) We've been tossing around some ideas... so far the best one we have is me being Snooki and MH being "The Situation" from Jersey Shores.
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen? There were some great Sarah Palin costumes two years ago... another couple were Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife. In college another person was a "One Night Stand"... she carried a stand on her head with a wine glass tipped over, condom wrappers, and a few other items.
First off, I'm sorry you're in a bad mood!
And for what it's worth, I've seen enough of your wedding pics to know your hair may be short but you probably still look great!
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween?
We used to not do anything, but one of our friends started a new "annual" party last year, so I'm sure we'll go to that again.
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes?
Last year was our first one dressing up. I was Alice in Wonderland and he REFUSED to be the Mad Hatter. I almost had him on white rabbit but that fell through too. He ended up being "a 7-11 Employee" (thrift store workshirt). So yeah, that didn't really work out. He was explaining his costume all night.
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning)
I think we'll be crazy-rabid Ohio State football fans. They're totally mental, and we weren't born & raised here so we couldn't care less about OSU.
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen?
A trio of friends dressed as Vincent, Mia and Jules from Pulp Fiction. Their costumes were spot-on, it was great.
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween? We go over to a mutual friend's house....this guy goes all out with decorations, disgusting theme food and outrageous costumes!
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes? We did individual last year....but the year before that we went as Sarah Palin and John McCain and won Best Couple at the party. It was awesome! Here's me, I didn't have a good one of us together:

3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning) I don't want to start thinking about it yet. It stresses me out!
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen? Our friend was the guy from the Dos Equis commericials last year....the most interesting man in the world. Here he is with his wife, from There's Something About Mary. Lol!

My Planning Bio
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween? Usually we go to our neighbours annual party. They are totally crazy about Halloween and go full out. Not sure if they will have one this year though, as they are expecting there first baby in October
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes? Last year my dh went as Magnum P I and I went as Beth Chapman (DOG the Bounty Hunter)
3. What are your costume ideas this year? Haven't really thought much about it
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen? My dh dressed up as Napolean Dynamite one year with the full on ensemble including the moonboots. He had the "gosh" impersanation bang on. Then when got to the party there was guy there dressed up as Pedro. Only a few people got it at the time and totally loved it, the rest had not even heard of the movie yet.
Another great costume idea was friends of ours (who now live in Germany) dressed up as the flashing pedestrian crosswalk people - "Walk" (in green) and "Do Not Walk" (in red) for one of the annual festivals there.
The good news (if you don't like your hair) is that you can go try on all of those Halloween wigs. After a couple of hours, you'll realize how gorgeous your hair is.
1. How do you and YH celebrate Halloween? I'm a photographer. Last year, I photographed the VooDoo Music Festival in New Orleans (3 long days including Halloween... bah humbug). All other years, we have had a neighborhood party for the kids.
2. If you both dress up, do you have individual themed costumes or usually do a joint themed costumes? My H is not into dressing up in full costume. I keep trying to get him to dress as The Green Giant. I've dressed to match my daughter and her friends (hahaha).
3. What are your costume ideas this year? (if you've already started planning) No ideas. Anyone have suggestions for me, my H and my 8 year old?
4. What is the best costume you've ever worn OR the best costume you've seen? Years ago, my best friend and I dressed as a two-faced b!tch. We went to the big and tall men's store and bought the biggest shirt they sold (it was hugely huge!). Our friend, who was a graphic design major, airbrushed "TWO FACED ***" on the shirt for us. We both pulled it on and stuck our heads through the neck hole. We wore long black skirts... looked like each of us was one pants leg. We took turns jumping to make it looked like we were walking in giant black pants. People stared ... then, read the shirt... started laughing... ran to get all of their friends to show them. So fun! Those days are gone.
