GAH!!! I hate sprint. And HTC.

I switched to sprint back in January, to save a good chunk of money. I went through a couple of phones while in my 30 days. Decided the issues I was having with the blackberry were enough to bother me. So I let DH talk me into a hero.

WORST.DECISION.EVER. The phone sucks. It started sucking about a week after I got it (which was about 5 days AFTER my 30 day period). Not huge issues, but enough to be an annoyance. New issues have cropped up continually since then. I finally had enough and went to Best Buy (where I bought the phone) last week and they said since I hadn't bought their plan, I had to call HTC, since the phone was still under warranty. Call HTC. They get all the details, decide to authorize a repair. Tell me to go to a sprint store, as they have an agreement for loaner phones during this time. This, apparently, is a lie. Every sprint store I've gone to has told me it's not true and they don't do loaner phones.

I can not go without a phone for 2 weeks, but I also need a phone that works consistently. We have no home phone. I have my own business. Not an option. HTC will not budge on not sending a loaner or replacement. Sprint will not allow a loaner or allow the purchase of a new phone (I'm not eligible for upgrade until Jan).

I'm pissed. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I'm thisclose to canceling both of our lines with Sprint now and getting go phones or switching to someone else. I even told the sprint rep that. His response, "oh, well I hope you don't decide to leave. have a nice day."

  • Wow, I'm pretty surprised.  My H and I both got HTC phone in June and love them.  After I had my phone for a week, it stopped vibrating, so I took it into a Sprint store.  They couldn't fix the issue, so they gave me a new phone no questions asked.  I also have never had problems with their customer service.  That sucks :(

yeah, sprint won't do anything because I bought it at best buy. I'd heard they were pretty decent from everyone I know who used them, but they have been far from helpful to me.

  • I'm back on verizon through my work so I can't offer any further advice...but sorry you're having some difficulties...I had one blackberry through them before I switched to the Pre and the screen cracked with in a week of having it (my fault) and they gladly replaced it no questions asked...did you go to an authorized dealer or a direct Sprint store???  The nearest one to you would probably be Roseville.
  • Sorry to hear of your issues.  DH and I both have Sprint and love it.  Although, we have never bought a phone anywhere except the Sprint store.  Can't Best Buy replace the phone?  Sorry if that has been answered and I misunderstood.  It sounds like your problem is with the disconnect between Sprint and Best Buy, not Sprint alone.  I hope it gets resolved soon.

Well, we went to the Sprint store in Forest Lake this weekend, and they told me that maybe the agreement was with the corporate stores only, but they were a private location.

So I went to Roseville (a corporate location) today and was told the same thing.

Best buy said they won't do anything because I didn't purchase their extra warranty.

My issue lies more in the disconnect between HTC and Sprint. But IMO, both should be concerned for the happiness of their customers, and Sprint really seemed like they couldn't care less. In fact the guy I spoke to at Roseville today had the solution of adding a third line. Then I could use the new phone, and the new line could use the hero. Because I really need to spend an extra 250 a year on a third line we don't need/want/won't use.

  • Since you aren't eligilble for an upgrade yet, why don't you look into getting a used phone on e-bay?  Then you can get rid of the HTC.

Or is there a cheap refurbished phone at the store to get you buy that you can return when the HTC gets back?

My BIL knows a hack for the phone. Which means I could never get it serviced again. But that's ok. A friend of a friend just informed me that Best Buy's loaner policy doesn't apply to just the people with their warranty, it's for everyone who bought a phone there. So I'm going to try that.

I may have to see if my sister has her old phone, then I could borrow that, and send mine in. But I shouldn't have to do all that.
