I want to bang on my drum all day

Tomorrow I go back to work. Several weeks ago as I realized it was looming, I started getting sad and nervous about it. But now I feel really good about it. Maybe it's because Ryker is mellowing but I think I am just ready to have some days of not just baby stuff. I hope this isn't denial and I don't start crying in the middle of something random tomorrow.

My first day, I was all sappy when dropping him off and gave him 42 extra hugs and kisses. Once I was actually at work, I felt great and really enjoyed a few hours of not being interrupted by diapers or feedings or even just being entertainment.

  • I went through the same range of feelings.  I thought my baby was so special, there was no way the daycare providers would ever be able to care for him properly.  They've seen everything, though, and I quicky came to enjoy eating lunch on my own schedule and being around grownups.

that's funny. i was so worried at first about "what are they going to do when he fusses!!!" that i didn't think that they have waaaay more baby experience than i did when he was born.

i am just excited at the thought that he will learn to nap during the day NOT on me

  • Good luck!  I found that the first day back was much easier than I had anticipated.  And, yeah...DC providers are pros - they know what to do.

  • Chances are there's nothing those folks haven't seen before when it comes to babies.  I've found them to a better resource than any book when it comes to things like teaching him how to drink from a cup, weaning from formula, menus, etc.

NestThis exactly. It was amazing to just be able to eat or go to the bathroom whenever I felt like it and not to have to worry about what a little person was doing at that time.

  • I bet tomorrow will be smooth as silk, Winger. I also enjoy my work time 99% of the time. It's great to run errands at lunch and not have to deal with carseats, carts, strollers, or fussy toddlers. :-)

  • Good luck tomorrow!

For me it was the 2nd week when it hit me. I was in a "OMG adult conversations!!!!" high for the first week.

  • Thanks Kay.
