Theater of the Stars - Dress Code?

A vendor BF works with gave us tickets to see the Sound of Music at the end of the month at the Theater of the Stars in Atlanta.  I've never been and wondering if there is a dress code or what you think would be appropriate to wear?  I know some theatres have more formal dress codes and while it's not Broadway, I'm not really sure what to expect there.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Re: Theater of the Stars - Dress Code?

  • Is it at The Fox Theatre?  I think that is the home theatre for Theatre of the Stars.  If so, you'll see a wide variety of clothing from jeans to nicer dresses.  The few times I've been to The Fox I've worn nice pants and a cute top.  I'm not a dress/skirt girl though.  Pretty much anything would be acceptable!  I realize I'm not much help here!!

Yes, I believe it is the Fox Theatre.  You were more help than you think....I was leaning towards a cute dress or skirt, but I wasn't sure how "dressy" I should be.  I know it's not black tie or anything super formal, but I wasn't sure.  Thanks!

  • when i saw spring awakening earlier this year for a saturday matinee, i wore a dress, tights and a cardigan.
  • I would say anything but jeans, I hated going to b'way shows and people were in thier tourist jeans and fanny packs. I almost wish the ushers would send them home and change like they used to.
  • Thanks ladies...just wanted to be sure!

I have never worn jeans to the Fox and never will! I almost always wear a dress there. Nothing formal, but not something I'd wear to the beach or anything either.

  • Bah, there's nothing wrong with jeans as long as they aren't sloppy - especially for a matinee (which is just about all I go to). I always wear jeans, a nice top, jewelry, and nice shoes (I can't wear heels). I make DH wear a button-up with his jeans. I don't dress up unless it is absolutely required (weddings, funerals, and fancy stuff). I don't go to shows to impress people and I could give a rat's a$$ what people are wearing as long as it is clean and neat. You spend 99% of the time in your seat, anyway.
