Help Me Pick Ponies!

Hey Everyone,

The Del Mar Horse Races are in full swing here in (somewhat) sunny San Diego. I always go around my birthday, and since the track is closed tomorrow, I'm going on Wednesday with two girlfriends.

Now, I pay no attention to horse size, training information, owners, past wins, etc. All I care about is the horse names -- that's how I place my bets.

So, since it seems to be a particularly droll and icky Monday for everyone, I thought maybe some of you would like helping me pick horses for Wednesday. Let me know if any of these names strike you and you think I should place bets on those horses (and if you have a reason -- i.e., it reminds you of your college mascot or has your favorite color in the name, let me know that too!):

Race #1: Cathy's Crunches (reminds me I need to hit the gym)

Race #2: Dancinconestrellas (because it's hilarious they named the horse dancing with the stars)

Race #3: Cajun Gent (I've got TrueBlood on the brain)

Race #4: Merlin Z (who can wrong with a little magic?!)

Race #5: North Fork (close enough to being Twilight related to count for something!)

Race #6: Cost of Freedom (It's not the right quote, but I've got Mel Gibson's speech in Braveheart in my head now)

Race #7: Fund Raiser (because the winnings could go to your Komen fund!)

Race #8: Alley Hondro (d@mn lady gaga and my friends who made me listen to this song!)

ETA: my pick for number 6, missed it the first time around!

Race #1: Hi Ho Yodeler - I heard yodeling in my head the second I saw this

Race #2: Miss Picaboo - reminds me of Amelia

Race #3: Defying Logic - this group made me scratch my head

Race #4: Money Included - it tells you in the name, Money Included

Race #5: North Fork - reminded me of home

Race #6: Quick Enough - to win?

Race #7: Five Silver Stars - Shiny stars were always good in school, why not on the track too?

Race #8: Accelerant - this made me think of KY. And yup, that made me giggle a little bit.

Race #5: Dontmesroundwitjim I give props for the long name

Those are the only races where I felt a connection. Some of those names are really sexual--is that common?

Race #1: Hi Ho Yodeler. That is just the most fun name.

Race #3: Don't Ya Lovett. That is hilarious. I love names that are puns.

Race #4: no preference

Race #5: Dontmesroundwitjim. It's a Jim Croce song--you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger and you...

Race #6: no preference

Race #7: Pincelada. I don't know what it is, but I like micheladas, so...

Race #8: Alley Hondro. Best name.
