Tick Bite

I found a tick on my lower abdomen yesterday morning in the shower.  I don't think it had been on there that long because it wasn't super attached.  It was tiny too.  I'm 99% positive I got the whole thing off (I dropped it and it went down the drain so I can't re check).  The bite is purple with a red spot in the middle.  The spot was already purple when I found it.  I've tried googling this but I'm coming up blank.  Anyone know anything?

Re: Tick Bite

  • From what I understand you are fine unless you get a red bulls eye rash in the area around the bite. I would just keep an eye on it in case that happens but it sounds like you are okay to me.
  • if it was super tiny like the size of a pin head then it was probably a dear tick but bigger then that it was probably a regular ol' tick.  DH goes riding in the woods a lot so we havetons of experience with tick bites.  The dr. usually gives him antibiotics if we think it had been attached for more then 24 hours otherwise they just say to keep an eye on it.  Keep an eye out for that bulls eye rash but it will leave a little bruise either way.  I hate ticks!!!!
  • I would give it a week and then see your doc. just in case.  Hopefully, it's okay, even if the tick's head was left over.  I've heard your body will naturally reject the head and push it right out on it's own just like a splinter.  eww!  I'd put a little dab of neosporin on it and check it daily to see if it changes.
