Dad update and other stuff

My dad just finished his first round of chemo last week. This wednesday he has a CAT scan, and once we get the results from that next week, they can compare it with the one they did pre-treatment to see if hes doing better or not.

I know i shouldn't be, but im so freaking nervous. I even had a horrible dream about it last night and i woke up in tears....and that was at midnight. I didnt sleep for like the rest of the night because it scared me so much. :(

And on top of that, Ziggy's company has been laying people off for the last two weeks and they laid 1 of 3 people in his department off yesterday. Now its just him and the boss and he thinks he might be next. Just what we need right now when we're actually starting to pay off bills and stuf...another layoff (he was laid off 1.5 yrs ago from his last job) that would make it hard to pay our mortgage and the rest of the bills w/o dipping into our savings. Ugh.

And im totally hating my job right now....and quite a lot lately. But there's no way i could find something else secure or that pays even half of what i make now. I'm just all around annoyed at the world today lol

Re: Dad update and other stuff

  • It's completely normal to be freaking out about your dad.  I know it's easier said than done but try to keep yourself busy so you are not dwelling on it all day.  Worrying won't do any good!  Same with your hubby and the posibility of him being laid off.  That thought seems to be based off of nothing but your fear that it will happen.  I would say just plan accordingly in case it does happen since that's pretty much what everyone should be doing these days.  The more prepared you are, the less of a blow it will be.

  • I agree with everything Lisa said. Just be prepared with work and stuff, as much as you can, it'll all work out. Sorry sweetie.

Vibes to you and Ziggy and your dad.

  • When they did the layoffs at DH's work, everyone would get the news at the same time.  So since his co-workers already got notice yesterday, maybe he's made the cut? Maybe they need him & his boss to stay to keep the dept up and running?

You're being strong with your dad.  Like pp's, obviously you're going to worry, but it's out of your hands right now.  Are you close with your sisters? Maybe having a good phone date with them will help you know you're not the only one who's worried.  Sending vibes!!!

no, theyve been laying off a few people every day for the last two weeks. theyre a weird small company and dont do layoffs like normal places. so who knows about that but im going to try not to stress about it since its really out of my hands.

as for my sisters, im close with one, but she just flew back to poland last week a therefore we're kindof on opposite schedules. but im going to send her an email. thanks for the suggestion. i know im not the only one worrying.

thanks to the rest of you ladies too- love you all!

Try to just be positive and do the best you can at work! I'm sending vibes to you for FI and your dad, just try and think positive cuz that will help cut out some worries.
  • Thinking of you, Kim!! I'm praying for your dad. Hope the test comes back with positive results showing he's made progress. You're a strong gal, you can do this!
