I'm traveling for work and picked up my rental car at the airport on sunday. my choice was between some car and a VW beetle - I thought, oh, the beetle seems like it would be a fun car.
I was coming back from lunch and heard a weird noise. yeah, you know the plastic part that's underneath the engine? one entire side has come undone and is now basically dragging on the ground.
awesome.

Re: car rental FAIL
Wowww.. I guess someone was counting on them not checking the bottom?
I've had lots of really interesting car rental experiences - my least favorite was renting a Mustang. I was WAY too short to drive that vehicle! There were far too many blind spots for me to be comfortable.
no kidding! and I just called them, I'm not sure if I should even be driving the car to the new rental location - the guys said, well, if it's just the plastic part on the bottom it should be ok.
alright then, but if I mess up the car even more it's not my fault.
That sucks!
I see an upgrade in your future.
knowing my luck, the only car that will be on the lot will be a chevy aveo, or some other really crappy car.
although I suppose any car that doesn't have plastic parts dragging on the ground is better than current one, right?
Ooh me too! They "upgraded" me to a mustang when I was out in San Fran. It was almost impossible for me to see over the hood with all of those hills!
Most definitely.
Maybe you'll get Herbie!

a herbie would be an upgrade.
::embarrassing moment::
I thought the trunk in the new beetles was also in the front so I went to open the frunk to put my suitcase only to find the engine. oops.
That's awesome!
OMFG - I just dropped the car off. they said it was my fault and had to open a claim because I elected not to get the insurance (it's our company policy to decline it). I'm so pissed, it was totally NOT my fault!
and they gave me - wait for it - a fvcking chevy aveo.
Wow, I'm shocked they were able to have a competent mechanic or body shop repair person look at it so quickly to make that determination!
