Accident this AM
I was on my way to my car this morning when I saw a a guy that lives 2 stairwells over, so I said hi just to be nice. He just gave me this blank stare and got in his car. I heard him backing up and it sounded like he was going kinda fast so I looked up only to watch him smash into the garages. And I mean he hit them HARD!! Then he just proceeded to drive away ... not stopping to see the damage he had done either. I couldn?t believe it! I mean he smashed the garage door pretty good, and hit the cement between garages and had a lot of damage to the back of his car too. DH said he saw him drive back to the apt when he was going to work though.
So I get to work and I'm telling people the story and figured I'd call our apt complex just in case they needed to have a "Statement" from someone or whatever (and also because I just wanted to be nosey and find out if he actually told them what happened). We'll come to find out, he didnt even call them or anything! They were completely blindsided when I told them what happened!
Isnt that leaving the scene of an accident? Or because it?s technically ?private property? since its an apartment complex that doesn?t count?

yeah i think that would be the whole "leaving the scene" thing or something similar. thats pretty crazy!
hes definitely going to be liable to pay for the damages hes done. not sure if he'll get into big trouble for not reporting it since he only damaged propertly and it wasnt like a hit-and-run on a person.

i was also thankful that you were not the one in the accident. your complex may be able to sue him for damages and leaving the scene. wonder why the guy was in such a daze this morning...it really sounds as though he was out of it!
I guess we'll find out after work today ... he's friends with our neighbor and she always talks to us, so I'm sure she'll tell us what was up ..
But normally he will at least say hi if not stop to chit chat with DH &/or I so I was suprised when he gave me the cold shoulder ... although I thought maybe he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.
