was a huge PITA! We were so excited to register and receive all these wonderful things but I don't think DH or I realized how much stuff would be in our tiny apt!
how long did it take you to completely unpack and finish your registries?
we finished our registries on friday and we are almost finished organizing and everything.. ih ave pictures of how packed our living room was with everything! soo much paper to recycle!

we're having twins!
Re: unpacking gifts..
We haven't finished our registries either. Most of our guests gave us a monetary gift so there is still TONS left on our registries. We probably won't finish them either. With my birthday coming and then Christmas, it'll give people an opportunity to purchase from there if need be.
We are going to clean house first and get rid of some things we don't use. Then we'll finish unpacking all of our gifts.
we got back from our honeymoon on saturday, on sunday we opened gifts, and yesterday we went through them. we needed the room! we decided to return a bunch of stuff even though we had registered for it. we just don't need it right now and plan to move in october, so we do not feel like packing and unpacking stuff we really do not need. we did buy some more stuff when we returned the gifts, but it was all stuff we knew we wanted now. i know there is more i want to get, but i can wait and get it later.
now everything is stacked against a wall in our living room. for most of the stuff, it will be packed up as is and we will not use it until we move.
Ugh!!! Us too! We have a 2 bedroom apartment but we had to put a closet and a half into our bedroom one which now looks cluttered so we could pile all the boxes on top of each other in our middle closet. I think it took us 3 days to even move the first box cuz it was so overwhelming. That was after the shower. We just bought the rest of our registry and just added it to the closet so that wasn't that bad.
I did it in phases, kinda. The things we really wanted, I unpacked right away and started using. Then I would choose the area (Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedding) and completely clean, then pack up the old and replace with new. We only just did the bedding set last weekend.
We haven't bought anything off the registry because I'm watching for the brands to go on sale.
July 10, 2010 Best. Day. Of. Life.
Literally half of our apartment is covered in broken down boxes, tissue paper, and bubble wrap. It's a mess. We've unpacked almost all of the gifts that were sent to us, but a bunch of them are sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to find a home.
We've completed at one of the places we're registered at, but still need to pick up a few things at the others. We also got mostly $$, so we're spending some of that on registry items.
We also have a handful of large items at my parents' house that we couldn't fly back home with us. My dad is going to drive them down (from PA to TX!) in September sometime. Don't know where they're going to go, though! We only have a one bedroom apt and very little closet space.

I love you, Daddy...2/24/1953 to 2/13/2011
All of the gifts we received from the wedding and shower, along with the stuff we bought off of our Target regsitry this past weekend have been living in my parents' basement, with the exception of our bedding, which we needed right away.
But we're finally moving to our new apartment this weekend and I am soooo excited to unpack it all and use it!
I wish we could have waited for brands to go on sale, but having none of your registries in your hometown and getting that 10% off that you can only use once, we just sucked it up and spend a large portion of our wedding money. We did get invited to a special 20% off night at BBB, though, which should be fun.

We kinda took over my parents basement. And we will have to keep them there until we have a house! The condo is "staged" for showings- and I didn't even bring my kitchen-aid. Which really stinks.
