Poll: When I was growing up....
(i.e. "We never had..." or "We always had to..." or "xxx didn't exist" etc.)
What are some things you remember your parents saying this about?
What are some things you can see yourself saying this about?
Re: Poll: When I was growing up....
I honestly don't remember my parents really saying anything like that...I think probably because it was just so long ago!
I'm already saying this about a lot of things, and I have no kids. My big things? I never had a tv in my bedroom (still don't, don't want one), I don't see the need for young children to have cell phones (really don't see the need for teenagers to have them either, but then again, I'm old)...we never had them and did just fine. Granted, when I was a kid, 7-Eleven was still on the corner in Rossford and we all used that payphone. When I was a kid, I had only one friend who had a computer, her family was loaded.
What are some things you remember your parents saying this about? We never had... microwaves, computers, cordless phones. They also talk a lot about what used to be places, like "That store used to be a farm!" or things like that. I actually love hearing all about it!
What are some things you can see yourself saying this about? We never had... cell phones, DVR, laptops, internet, remote car starters, LED lighting.
We had to manually switch from A/B cable, computers were huge and only had 3 colors, floppy disks really were floppy, camcorders were huge. When cell phones finally came around, those were huge too.
really can't remember too much about what my parent's would've said.
i can already see myself saying....
we never had computers or video games to entertain us.. we went outside to play.
tv's came in color/black and white, had 4 channels, and we had to manually change the channel.
we didn't have cell phones, laptops, internet, gps systems, email, texting, designer clothes, or cable tv.
we didn't have caller id and we had to actually dial a phone to make a call.
My mom used to tell me that they didnt have bottled water like we do now a days. They didnt have all those flavored bottled water either.
I know I will be telling B2 that I can remember when the Wii came out and TIVO, ipods. I remember the first cell phone and now look at them.
Okay this is probably going to make me sound really old. But I still remember when 'bottled water' came out. I remember laughing and talking with someone else - What in the world? who the heck would want to pay for water?!?! I was a kid at the time - but I remember it.
I also remember dialing the phone. We had a rotary phone. In fact I think I was a Senior in HS when we still had it. It's almost odd to think that my nieces and nephews have never had to live in a world with those.
