My husband and I are from Pennsylvania and will be taking a road trip to Eastern Canada in early September. We are spending one night in Ottawa, two nights in Montreal, and two nights in Quebec City. We have our hotels reserved already... we are staying at Hampton Inns and Holiday Inn Expresses. Are there any attractions that you think are a "must see"? How about restaurants or bars?
My husband is a huge ice hockey fan so we are already planning on seeing Scotia Bank Place and Bell Centre. We will also go to see Parliament Hill and both Old Montreal and Quebec. We are not sure about public transportation, any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Eastern Canada road trip
Unfortunately, I don't think there are many people from those areas that post on this board. I would love to help you out, but I haven't been to Ottawa, Montreal, or Quebec City (sad, I know).
You may have already done this, but I would recommend checking out the official tourism sites for the three cities and see what the cities have to offer. You may learn about special events, shows, etc. that are offered at the time you are there. Just type in Ottawa/Montreal/Quebec City tourism and it should be the first site to come up.
Sounds like a great trip. I have heard wonderful things about all three cities and hope to go myself one day
When I visited Montreal a few years ago we booked a tour of the city/sights through a tour group. We booked right at our hotel, they pick us up there, and we saw alot of the city. Def worth it, and worth avoiding the hassle of renting a car. On the other hand, when I was in Quebec City we rented a car and drove all over god's creation. It was a blast, but kinda nerve-wracking driving in a place we weren't familiar.
Man, that probably didn't help much. In a pinch, I'd say take a tour! lol
In Ottawa, I would suggest just walking around downtown. The canal is right beside Parliament Hill. There's also the Chateau Laurier and some other things within easy walking distance of Parliament Hill.
In Montreal, there's the Botanical Gardens, Olympic Park. The city also has this bike taxi service. You swipe your credit card, grab a bike and use it, then return to a station near your destination. It's really cheap and convenient because there's a station about every block downtown.
