question/vent

My husband and I are ready for a new big purchase. We want new carpet for our house.

The reason...well I spilled pop on the floor a while ago and the stain is there STILL. and my cat throws up at least once a month...and I can see a spot of that too.

So the carpet we are sold on buying has a lifetime gaurentee on all stains you can think of. If the house hold remedies they tell you to do dont get it out...then they will replace the carpet!

the catch!?!? THE ONLY STAIN THEY DONT GAURENTEE IS CAT VOMIT.

human they will... ugh...im so annoyed...

so... what do you use to get out the stain when your animals get sick?

Re: question/vent

  • Have you thought of getting the carpets professionally cleaned?  For $100 they can look basically brand new!

For our cat puke, we use this:

It works okay but doesn't smell the greatest.

  • I agree w/ Mel that I would get them professionally cleaned before getting a new carpet. Your cat isn't going to magically stop vomiting once you replace the carpet, so you may regret such a $$$$ purchase if he ruins the new one.

Can you re-arrange the furniture to cover up the old stains?? :)

  • Or, alternatively you could get the carpet and just tell them that you have a disorder where you often vomit on the rug. Cat? What cat?

    LMAO ditto Mel!

Jessy I agree see about getting it cleaned- even look at Home Depot to rent their carpet cleaners, buy some kind of Bissell or Resolve carpet cleaner to use with the commercial units. The rentals are like $20-30 if you want to DIY. I work in the apt business and sometimes there are stains that are super stubborn, but often a good pro cleaning helps! Check out this article too for other possible solutions . . .Good luck!

  • My friend M uses Petzyme for her cat puke.  I was "feeding the cats" while she was on vacation (which also consisted of poop scooping and cleaning vomit, which I have since retired from cat-sitting since I'm a dog person anyhow),and I used this stuff to clean up the SOB's vomit & it worked pretty good.
