We're putting in our Resignations

I wanted to say and NFT.... But I need some advice and WWA08D?

When I left Ft.Worth everything was easy, gave my 2 weeks notice, didn't have to worry about locating a place, packed what I could, then drove back up with Joe and packed the rest.

With a DH and LO things are different.  Joe has a start date of 09.15.10, we are putting our notices in either today or tomorrow.  But we need a couple of days to go up, find a place and then make sure it will be available for move.

So.  What would you do.  I have no more vacation/sick time till Sept.1st so anytime I'm out, I won't get paid. Joe on the other time has vacation time he can use, but we can't go scout anything out this weekend because my sister, BIL and neices and nephew are coming for the weekend.  Would you suggest Joe ask off for Mon and Tues so we can go find something?  Wait till next weekend to move then prepare to move after that?

I don't even think i'm making sense !hahahah

Oh gosh!! This is going to be stressful !!! But i'm so excited !!!

Oh. He got the JOB !!!

* edit * please don't say anything on FB !! We haven't told anyone just yet.

Re: We're putting in our Resignations

  • Congrats!!!! I can tell you're bursting!!! As far as move advice goes... I don't know! Sept 15 is going to come fast. My first thought is go do what you can asap so you're not living at a motel the first few weeks.
  • OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is SUCH exciting news.  I am sooo very happy for you!!!!!

Can you go without 2 days of pay to go look for a place?  If you can then do it. If not go the next weekend.

  • YAY That's so exciting!!!!

I agree if you can go without the 2days then do it but if not then go next Weekend. Good Luck in your search and let the packing begin!!!

  • Woohoo!! Now I can uncross my fingers, they were starting to hurt!

I'm not sure what kind of place you are looking for, but if I were you and you are able to, call places (apartments, landlords for homes) and see what their availability is, give them a heads up when you need to move, and then schedule an appointment to see the place. If you are going with a larger apartment complex, you should be able to see the place online. I just know from my recent experience trying to find a house, we called and emailed tons of places and got only 4 responses and ended up looking at 3 houses. Even though we found a house, it still wasn't available for another three weeks. So just keep that in mind. You have less than a month now which may not be a whole lot of time just in case you find something and it is occupied. So in summary, the sooner you can go look, the better, but just make sure you are putting feelers out there and making contact with landlords, so if they do have something, they can set it aside if possible.

  • CONNNNNNNNNNGRATS!!!

I agree with the gals and say go 2 days unpaid and look for something for you guys. (Work can't complain, it's your choice to get the unpaid time). It will give you peace of mind and definitely something to look forward in the weeks to come! HOW EXCITING!!!

  • YAAAY!!!!!!!!  Congrats to Joe!  I'm so happy for you both!  Didn't I say I had a good feeling about this Wink

I think Joe should ask for the day off and you should take it and find it now. Don't wait!

  • I agree with everyone else.  I really just wanted to chime in and say congrats!  I know you're so excited! :)
  • Woo hoo!!! Congratulations!!!!
  • Could you change plans with your sis?

Congrats!!!This is great news! great job Joe!

  • Congratulations! I would wait until the weekend to go look for places and then maybe Joe could take a monday and Tuesday off once you find a place so yall can get the place ready.

  • That's great news, congrats!  I agree with pp, I'd go as soon as possible to look for housing.  That's so exciting!
  • yay!!!! what an awesome answered prayer!!!

I agree too! You've got Lo now so housing and getting her settled is #1 so taking one or 2 days with no pay is worth it in the long run!

  • 1 - congratulations!!!!! that is exciting news!

2 - i agree. if you can afford to take 2 days off without pay, do it. you can be using craigslist now to try and locate some places to look at so that you're not scrambling when you do get to go scout things out.

3 -  congratulations!!!!!! i know you and joe are both really proud of him!  :)
