2 wks in Michigan - weather?

I am coming from the East Coast where the days can be hot/humid, but not much above 90 at this point & the nights are getting very cool (50s/60s).  Just wondering how my family should dress for the next couple of weeks....do you think we will be bored stiff?  My husband wants to chill & have this be a take it day by day vaca.

  • Our weather has been pretty much the same as yours. Why does your husband think you'll be bored stiff?

  • He doesn't, it was me that thought after a couple of weeks, there might not be alot of different stuff to do.

  • Michigan has plenty to do. Where are you staying? Even if you take things day by day, it couldn't hurt to have a few ideas in mind.

  • Let us know where you're staying and we can give you some suggestions.

  • The weather is about the same as you if you are coming to the greater Grand Rapids area. If you'll be further north, like Traverse City or the U.P., plan on it being a little colder.

Like others have said, let us know where you'll be and we can definitely give you some tips! I'm sorry to hear your impression of Michigan is that you'll be bored... Sad That's definitely not the case.

  • I'm sure being away from home with three young kids for two weeks can seem a little overwhemlming and make you wonder what you are going to do.  As others have said, once you let us know what area(s) you will be in, we can give you some ideas.

Also, with young kids, I have found that just doing something different can be fun for them. We just traveled with our 2 and 3 year old. We tried to find an equal mix of going to places like zoos and keeping it low key so we could stick to their routines, esp naps for at least every other day. For some low key days you  could do simple things like going to the local library and letting them look at books for a bit. It is at end of summer, so most libraries are wrapping up their programming for a few weeks, but you might be able to find a story hour. Go to the local park or elementary school and let them play on the playground. If you are coming to the Grand Rapids area, there are several nice parks. End the day with a visit to the ice cream shop.
