AW: Gonna be a mom!

Sorry, I really didn't mean to be covert about it in the post below.  I am 14w 3d pregnant, EDD Feb 13th, 2011.

I had some problems with bleeding from about week 5 to week 10 due to a subchorionic hematoma so I was on pelvic rest with a "threatened abortion" (god I hate that term) until this past Sunday, but it seems to not be a problem anymore, so I've slowly been telling people.  On the positive side, I haven't had any morning sickness at all which I am really counting my blessings for.

Re: AW: Gonna be a mom!

  • Sorry for outing you, but congrats. Oddly enough, I have heard of several people with subchronic hematomas that end up with perfectly healthy babies.

    11/11/11 = 5 years. Woah!
  • Congrats!

We have a Britax Roundabout for Maggie, it's a great seat. I'm holding out for an updated Marathon for Owen (it has a higher rear facing weight limit than the current seat), but that deal you posted below is good.

  • Kristen - do you find the Britax works as an infant seat as well or would you recommend a separate infant seat?  I've read some conflicting opinions on this.

  • Conga-rats krisdi!
  • Congrats!! That sucks that you had to have that scare (and stupid scary names for the scare), but glad that everything is looking smooth now!
  • Congratulations! I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly for you, no more scares. =)

  • Congrats!!!!  I'm glad you're feeling better!   I can't help you with the car seat issue because I'm apparently wayyy behind in the baby prep department.  Did you see the chick on 2nd tri (with the diet coke ad wedding photo) that has the entire nursery done at 18 w?

  • Congrats!! I hope the rest of your pregnancy in uneventful!

I'm not crazy superstitious but I didn't start preparing for the baby in earnest until I got into the 24-25 week range.  I certainly wanted to wait until I got the all-clear at the 20 wk ultrasound, and preferred to wait until I had a 'viable' baby in my belly.

Krisdi, I said it on the Britax post, but congratulations!   I'm wishing you a drama-free pregnancy!!

  • It's reassuring to know that I'm not "behind". We have our anatomy scan in 2 weeks and I've always just wanted to wait until after that point to start planning and registering, especially since we're finding out the baby's gender.

  • I can't say how it works as an infant seat, we use a Graco Snugride when they are small. So easy to get them in and out of the car, in the snap n go stroller, grocery cart etc. when they are sleeping in that seat. I moved Maggie into the convertible seat at around 8 months, Owen will probably have to move into one in another month or so since he's huge.

  • Congrats!! I would not have used the roundabout or the marathon as an infant seat. Looking back I would have probably shelled out more for a second marathon instead of one of each, since I've already had to replace the roundabout with a (harnessed) booster.

  • Congratulations!  I wondered if I missed something when I saw the car seat post.

I recommend an infant car seat until the babe is ready to move into a convertible seat.  It's easier for you to maneuver around, and more comfortable for the babe.

  • Thanks everyone!  I'm also hoping for an uneventful rest of the pregnancy with no more scares.

I did see this the other day and thought it was crazy.  I haven't really gotten much of anything yet, but I hate passing up good deals and since we're not finding out if it's boy or girl ahead of time, it doesn't really matter on purchases like car seats which we plan on buying neutral.  We still need to clear out our office which is what we're turning into the nursery, so it will be a while.
