POTD: Anniversary gifts

DH and I are coming up on our 4th anny next month and I have no clue what to get him. I am normally great at coming up with ideas for him but I am drawing a blank this time. And his birthday is a week later and I am pretty clueless on that one too. So:

What was the last anny or bday gift you bought your DH?

Any other suggestions/ideas are welcome!

Re: POTD: Anniversary gifts

  • We typically don't do anniversary gifts because we will just do a nice dinner or a weekend away or something to celebrate. But for his last birthday I got him a signed Fernando Torres jersey. He's a big Liverpool fan. So if he has a favorite team you could do something autographed? You can usually find some authentic stuff for a decent price on eBay.

  • Our 5 year anniversary is in October and I bought us club level seats to a Penn State game in Virginia.  It's something he's been talking about for months so I knew he super wanted it haha.  First his birthday (in May) he really wanted a new wheel set for his one bike so I just really paid attention to what he was talking about and ordered them for him.
  • DH 's gifts are either really expensive or not. Last b-day was subwoofers for his car, b/c I think he wants to be 16 again, and I got him a $15 itunes gift card to go with it.  For Christmas, I have big plans to buy him that 3 wolves t-shirt that has the hilarious comments on amazon b/c he likes ridiculous t-shirts. I bet Lawren's soccer jersey idea would be a hit, DH loves the soccer jerseys that he has (though I never buy them b/c he beats me to it).  DH has a wallet that has a little silver bar that has his initials engraved, something like that might be nice?
  • we typically go out for a nice dinner, plan a small day trip, etc.

  • We do not usually exchange gifts--just a card and a nice dinner.  If we do a gift, its a 'joint' gift.  Last year we went on a cruise.
  • How about a baby free weekend?

  • DH and I usually go away for a long weekend for our anny.  Is there any places that he's always wanted to visit?
  • yeah we didn't do gifts either. ?We did a weekend getaway at the Outer Banks for our first anniversary this year and just had nice dinners and a relaxing time together. ?I do want to get DH a nice watch though...I have for years, but I'm just waiting for the perfect hint. (ie for him to really decide on one!!)

  • I usually try to stick with the anniversary year gifts.  This year (5) is wood for traditional and silverware for modern.  I decided on a print of the stadium when duke won the National Championship and I am going to have it framed.

I think year 3 was leather and I got him a leather whip.  Yep - it was kinky but it was fun.  But like the others I usually stick with something he really enjoys like DUKE and golf.  You would think he would get tired of golf balls, but the man thinks its the best thing ever.  If you are unsure I would go with something you know he enjoys.

  • Thanks for all of the ideas. A weekend away is not feasible right now b/c we are both traveling for work and have no childcare closeby for DS. Hopefully I will come up with something! It is still a few weeks away.
