Raleigh restaurant recs

Hey Raleigh nesties!

I have family coming into town this weekend and am looking for some restaurant recs in downtown Raleigh (or near downtown).  DH and I have been to a ton of places there, but we are looking for something a little different and fun to take our brother and sister-in-law to.  I don't want anything too expensive or la-ti-da, but I would like somewhere with great food and a great atmosphere.  Any suggestions?

Re: Raleigh restaurant recs

  • What about Gravy?

Or maybe Sitti or Poole's Diner.... I've never been to these two but I've always heard good things.

And I always like Seaboard Cafe at Logan's Trading Company for lunch.

  • Oooh, I LOVE Sitti! It's so good and def. unique. Would be a fun place to go, especially if you like Mediterranean/Lebanese food.

I've never been to Gravy, but I have a friend who loves it.

What about some of the classics like Caffe Luna or 518 West (both Italian), or something a little more casual/cute like Busy Bee.

  • Remedy Diner is a great option for yummy sandwiches and half their menu is vegetarian sandwiches.

Red Room has great tapas and are half-price on Sunday and Monday.

Mellow Mushroom is a great relaxed atmosphere for yummy pizza, sandwiches and drinks.  It was a great hit with my brother and his gf.

  • I second Red Room and Mellow Mushroom. ?What about Hibernian? ?We ate there last night (Cary location) and it was soo good (hadn't eaten there in a while since we moved to West Raleigh).

There's also Bogarts and one of my faves; Vic's Italian Restauarant in City Market.?
