Facebook Privacy- new Places feature
Re: Facebook Privacy- new Places feature
I'm with you that. It CAN be a good tool to use to connect with people and share pics etc. but I hate that they keep adding all of these functions where you are automatically opted in instead of having a choice.
DH's bff has posts all the time about "checking in" somewhere. I guess it would making stalking him that much easier?
Same. I dislike the shady privacy issues - but I remedy that by disabling them and making my profile, pictures, everything ONLY available to friends, and then even some of my friends don't get to see full info, such as my address, phone number etc. It is helpful to have it on there though, for at least my family members and my closest friends who might need to access it.
I really LOVE facebook for how easy and one-stop-shopping it is to share our lives with our friends and family, especially the ones that live far away. Pictures, news stories, anecdotes and thoughts on daily life - it's all there and available to share with whomever we please. It's helped me retain better relationships with the faraway relatives and friends because when we do see each other or talk, we don't have to spend time catching up - we already know what is going on!
But.. yeah. Disabled the places feature on facebook and clicked disallow when my phone prompted me to accept it.

Thanks for the heads up.
I am a fan of social media and used to never think twitter was worth my time, but definitely changed my mind. Facebook and twitter are and can be very powerful business wise.
The one thing I can't wrap my head around is 4square. Some people I follow on twitter have it so they tweet their location automatically. I honestly can't foresee myself needing to tell everyone where I am.

That love/hate thing? Well I spent all afternoon yesterday hating this new thing that Facebook has. Then I got home and DH downloaded the updates for me on my iphone. Turns out it's going to come in handy this weekend. He's riding 2000 miles in 48 hours on the motorcycle for a patch in an IronButt Run. I made him promise to text me the city and state everytime he stopped. Now all he has to do is use the facebook places thing on his phone.
So again, love/hate. *sigh*
