In my jobless state, I've decided to start turning tricks for cash. What do you think I'm worth?
But seriously, I've lucked into some temp work helping to organize an office's files, purge what they don't need, and develop a retention system, including a process manual, etc. They asked what rate of pay I would like and I have NO idea. I will be working under the office manager, so I don't want to over-shoot her salary, but I don't want to under value myself either. What do office managers typically make? How much does everyone think I should charge?
Re: What should I charge?
I think about $10-$12/hour is a good range to start at. I am an office manager and make around $13-$15/hour. Have they had a temp work for them before doing the same tasks that you will be doing? Maybe they can give you an idea on what the last temp was paid.
HTH!
After looking up some stuff online, I offered $15/hr and haven't heard back yet. I guess I'll call tomorrow to follow up.
Cati, yeah, I got laid off at the end of last school year. I've been looking for jobs since March and think I have finally found something FT and permanent, in addition to this temp job. How is your search going?
