Ordering pics=daunting process

I was really excited that our photographers give us a CD with the copyright release so we can do our own printing, but now that I'm trying to do it, the whole process is so daunting and time consuming! At first I thought I'd just print at a 4x6 of all of them, but that seems kind of silly and it would be a lot of money. So I'm sitting here combing through them, trying to decide which ones to print, how many to print, and what size to print them!

I think I'm going to just print my very favorite ones for now, and then make photo books to have them all printed. How's everyone else doing with the whole photo printing if you are doing it yourself?

Re: Ordering pics=daunting process

  • I know how you feel...I get 100 prints with my package, but there are over 500 pictures to choose from!  How can I decide which I want, and what size they should be?  I also have to choose the exact pics for the album (they don't sit down with you to help you) and I just can't bring myself to do it, because its just so overwhelming!

I would just do your favorite ones for now, you can always go back and print more later.

  • Oh gosh, picking the photos for the album is the worst. One of my good friends got married last year, and she couldn't decide so it just kept getting put off. Finally, she asked me just to choose them for it and just to make sure like everyone in her family was represented somewhere in the album. It was kind of fun picking for her!
  • thats exactly what i plan to do. :) i plan to print my favs, have a couple printed on canvas :) totally excited about that, and make photobooks with the others that I like. There are undoubtedly a few that I won't like of myself as much as others or pictures that are similiar to others.

Sooo excited to get our cds! Just got the teasers for our wedding and I'm STOKED about that. :)

  • I'm printing my favorites, then I'm making a couple of photobooks just so I have all of the good ones printed.  Then I can always print different ones when I'm up for a change.

  • Oh my gosh, I totally feel you on this. We get 100 prints with our package, and I have to pick out my favorite 50 for our photographer to make our book with... and we have 1800 to choose from. It is ridiculous! When we were first looking at them, I wrote down all the ones I liked well enough to want prints of- and I have 500. So clearly I'm going to have to do another round and cut a lot out, but I just don't have the energy to do it. Lol. I've got to get those darn thank you notes done!! ;)
  • I think many of us are in the same boat! It's sooo hard! I had over 1600 pics and I had to pick 100...I ended up picking 140 and adding more pages to my album, hopefully it doesn't look cluttered.

I picked 140 for my album and I'm making a scrapbook so I guess I'll just put in my fav from every pose in there. That's what I'm gonna do. GL!

  • I still don't know what prints we will be getting ourselves but in our package we get an album and 2 11x14 prints.  However, our photography recently told us that we have options with the prints.  We can swap a 11x14 for 2 8x10s or even swap both the 11x14 for one HUGE print.  So, now indecisive me doesn't know what to do!  We also get an album which we can pick up to 80 photos to go in it.  Any additional photo will cost us $6 a piece.  We got our pics narrowed down to 103 and decided at that point to just pay the extra money because it was so hard to choose what to cut!

  • Our photographer gave us a $200 print credit and we get the rights, and that actually makes it hard in the opposite sense.  I am printing a photo of me with each bridesmaid for the frame I gave them.  We are also getting an 8x10 for each set of parents and I decided to frame a shot of my and my grandpa dancing for him.  3 8x10s for us, and we have no clue how to spend the other half of the credit!  I plan on making a scrapbook/album, so I guess I'll get some 5x7 or 8x10 prints for that, and then fill out the rest with prints I get myself.  But we've got maybe 200 online and it's hard to choose, even before we see them all!
