Bday Cake Recommendations (ALB)

DH's bday is coming up and I want to try something new for cake.  Any ideas?

I've tried Coccadotts a few times but I think since they have become more popular, we have had less luck with them.  They messed up two cakes for us, and my DH's cousin ordered a 1st bday cake for her daughter that came out really awful (and it cost $100!).  Also we did a huge Coldstone Cake for my DD's birthday already (which was ok).

Anyway, I digress... has anyone tried Sweet Tempations (Loudonville)?  Or have you tried one of the pies from Coldstone?  I can't get DH to choose any favorite flavor or type that he wants, but I do want to do something we haven't done before.

Re: Bday Cake Recommendations (ALB)

  • What about villa italia or bella napoli?  I also think there's a place called sweet betty's or something that sells cupcakes (they have a big bus that travels around).
  • Betties cupcakes is based in Saratoga so I'm not sure if I could coordinate something down here.  I figure since DH is from Albany I would try something I know he hasn't had before, but those are good suggestions, they've been around a while and I've heard good things about both (villa italia and bella napoli).
  • Villa Italia dis our wedding cake, and it was amazing!

  • Our wedding cake was by Joan's Cake Chateau in Latham-ish area.  On 155 I think?  It was delicious and was def. reasonably priced.
