Got to do something really cool

My christening gown was finally given to me, but it had some damage on it. So I contacted a costume designer friend of mine. He contacted a friend of his and had me meet him at a costume house in NYC.
When we walked in there were movie, theater and opera posters every where. Pictures of all sorts of famous people, Liza Minelli, Hillary Clinton, The Duchess of York, Angela Lansbury, just to name a few. At this point I'm trying not to pee I'm so farking excited. We all go into the fitting room and everyone ohhed and ahhed over the baby. Then we got to work.
I pulled out the gown and the three restores started looking at it. Decided that it would be easy to clean and repair (yeah!!). I must admit it was pretty awesome to see some premier individuals in their field get excited over a gown my great grandmother handmade.
When we were done, one of the ladies asked if we wanted a tour. UMMM.. HELL YEAH!!!!! So we got to walk around and see the projects. They are currently working on the Big Apple Circus and American Ballet Theater's new Nutcracker production. We saw a lady embroidering pom poms stitching them into some silk. She was not sewing pom poms on, she was sewing individuals strands to create pom poms. Behind her was a lady embroidering on a bodice including crystals. She had the fabric on a loom and was working blindly, She had to stitch from underneath and it was amazing.
We got to see some hand painted Pucci fabric, as well as some amazing tutus. It was SO beautiful and amazing. It was like walking around behind the scenes at the Met museum costume institute. It was such an exciting experience.
