Be my decision maker: movies

We're going to the movies tonight but can't decide what to see - Dinner for Schmucks or Inception? No preference on genre really. And, go!

Re: Be my decision maker: movies

  • Inception.  I haven't seen either, but I have 2 friends who've seen Schmucks, and they told me that it was a huge waste of their time and money.  Is inception the one with the kid from Growing Pains whose name I totally know but it's escaping me right now?  I really like him, I just can't think of his name.

Anyway, if that's the one, I've also heard...Leonardo DeCaprio...him...yeah...I've heard nothing but rave reviews from the people who've seen it.

  • From what I hear, Schmucks is a lot of boring buildup to a funny dinner scene.  Definitely not worth the cost of a movie ticket.

Therefore by process of elimination, you should see Inception instead. I haven't seen it, but I hear good things.  I have seen Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and loved it.

  • I haven't seen Schmucks but have heard it's a let down.

Wewere blown away by Inception. It's really good.

  • Right, that Leonardo guy. He was in something else too, something about a boat I think?

    I think Inception it is!

  • I know.  I can probably name 20 movies he was in, and a younger McFinehiney may or may not have had a huge crush, but at that moment I could not for the life of me come up with his name.  And let's face it, he's really most famous for being in Growing Pains.  Jimmy likes to give me a hard time when I remind him that Amy Adams is really best known for having been in a season 3 episode of Charmed.

  • We may be seeing Inception, so I vote that.

I think you mean The Office.

I disagree, she's best known as Tara's bitchface cousin.

Could you imagine how well a story about a school teacher letting a minor student live with him would go over today?

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • I think Inception is more of a movie-theatre-worthy movie (special effects) and sadly I've heard mostly awful stuff about Schmucks.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • Cali's description of Schmucks is quite accurate. I was so excited to see it, and ended up being really disappointed. The buildup is mostly boring, and really frustrating to watch (If you hate movies where one ridiculous bad thing after another happens, which I do). It has it's moments, but don't see it in the theatre.

We saw Inception and it was really awesome.

  • And I just saw that Inception is playing at the IMAX near us, so I think that sealed the deal.

  • We are also going to see Inception on the Imax this evening, E doesn't want to go to a happy hour and then home by boat.
  • We saw Inception in IMAX and it was awesomeness! The movie is slightly mind f-ing but really really good.
  • I enjoyed Inception.  My husband checked a few too many e-mails during the movie and sure enough, it ended with a "I didn't get it." PAY ATTENTION!
