Going Home!

We're being discharged from the hospital today! The doctors say that he's healing as well as they could ever hope, and he's been doing great. We can't wait to sleep in our own beds tonight, all nigh, with no interruptions!

Re: Going Home!

  • Great news for M and you!  I am glad it all went well and he can now resume to being an active boy.
  • That's fantastic.  It's hard to believe you can go home so soon after heart surgery.
  • That's great!
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz

They really are. I can't believe how much better he is each day compared to the one before.

He's still mellow, but able to walk and do anything but ride his bike, swim, or anything that might stretch that side too much to the point of reopening the would. Right now, he just has low energy from not eating or moving too much and from watching tv and playing video games almost 18 hours a day. Not to mention, no one ever leaves you alone during the night, so he could use lots of uninterrupted sleep. After that, he'll be sore, but should be feeling stronger than ever soon!
  • Oh good. I can't imagine trying to corral a hyper little boy with a healing chest wound, much less with a language barrier.

With all the potential roadblocks the way you guys are handling the transition to family is just amazing. There's a lot of love there.

  • Thanks. We're trying our best. We just take one day at a time, and worry about the rest when we have to. M's incision is actually on the side, and around across his back. Every single person we spoke to at the hospital told us that his incision type is more painful than if the go through the front, because of all the muscle they cut through and the fact that they have to spread the ribs. So the soreness will keep him slow for a little while, and in a few weeks, he should be mostly unrestricted.
  • Seriously, all of your posts make me tear up a bit. Congratulations on becoming a mother!
