Re: signing my new name...

  • A little. I write really slowly when I do mine.

I went from a 10 letter long last name, to just 3. So it's more legible than it was, but I write slowly like a kid learning cursive for the first time and trying really hard lol.

Hubby makes a big scirbble (and our first names are about the same length too) he does like the W and then scirbbles the rest of his first name, then the N then scribbles... it's silly looking.

So I just write out every little letter very neatly and slowly lol. It works I guess. :/

  • I still have a few credit cards that haven't been updated yet (or the new card is in the mail)...and when I make a purchase, I never know whether to sign my maiden name or my married name.

And I nearly have a panic attack the other day at a store when the cashier asked to see id (which DOES have my married name).  I was worried she was going to question why the 2 names.  I must have been stressed because it's probably very common.   I just didn't want to hold up the line.

  • I find that when I sign my new name its so much neater than when I signed my maiden name. I'm sure that's pretty normal since it's not second nature like my maiden name - it will take time.

  • i'm practicing too.  and like others, i still sign some things in my maiden name because credit cards are not yet changed over.  it'll still take more time for it to feel natural.

on a side note, i cannot wait to go back to school and be a mrs!  i think it is going to totally throw off the kids!

  • I'm also still in name limbo (using both in different situations), so my signature is all sorts of messed up. I think once I can stop signing my maiden name entirely, things will improve. I hope.

  • Unless I stop to think about it when I'm signing something, I automatically still write my maiden name. I guess I'm just so used to it. And it seems so much easier to write. I suck at writing my new name. Something about the lowercase cursive k just throws me off for some reason lol!
  • Mine is a boys first name and it's 4 lettes, when I sign it it looks like I printed it cuz it takes me less than a second to sign it. It stinks! I used to have 2 b's in my maiden name and I LOVED signing the double B's....now I just have a bored signature.
  • it was difficult in the beginning, but i think i got it now. I have to sign my name about a bajillion times a day at work. So i got a lot of practice. The hardest part for me was doing the initials.. i kept forgetting i was DB not DW.

  • I'm having a super hard time with it, too!  Mine looks like a toddler did it and sometimes, I forget and start to sign my maiden name and have to either cross it out/do it over or just incorporate it b/c it is on something insignificant.  How long will it take for it to become routine?

  • My signature has always looked sloppy but now it is worse!  My new name has a u followed by two m's.  That is way to many up and down motions for me!

  • I can't figure out my signature on my new name...I had my old one down. My new one has i s to dot and a t to cross so there is no great way to do it.  Ugh!!
