How to clean stainless steel appliances???

Between my toddler and my two huge dogs, my fridge, dishwasher, and oven are filthy.  I tried cleaning um, but now they are all streaky!  Any help?

Re: How to clean stainless steel appliances???

  • Easiest thing to clean them with is olive oil!  We used to spend the money on the official stainless steel cleaner and it was a work out.  Just pour oo on a rag and rub with the grain it'll look great.  It's a good idea to go over with a dry rag when you're done to soak up the excess.  Good luck!
  • Thank you so much!  Just tried this and it worked AMAZINGLY!  I am sooooo excited I found something!  My appliances look brand new!

  • I use a spray by Method that is meant for stainless steel.  I wouldn't use olive oil repeatedly on them...I would think that would make them greasy/create a film over time?

  • Doesn't the olive oil go rancid and attract bugs?
  • I use stainless steel wipes, they do have some sort of oil in them, but it makes the appliances looks great!

  • The olive oil doesnt leave the appliances smelly???
  • I've had a lot of luck with pledge multi-surface spray and a microfiber cloth.

ITA.  I would think mineral oil would be a better choice, because it doesn't get rancid.  I use it on my wood cutting boards.

  • WD40! I know I was doubtfull when my FIL suggested it, but it works like a charm. Just don't over do it.
  • I've used the Method stainless steel cleaner and the pledge multi-surface. I prefer the pledge. I think the method still leaves streaks. I've also used clorox greenworks and method multi surface - they aren't bad, and they are safer for the kiddies and furbabies.

If I used olive oil, I'm afraid my animals would lick the appliances! but an interesting suggestion. I wouldn't use the WD40 in a house w/kids and pets even if it does an amazing job.
