Lack of period

My last cycle was July 8th.  I have not had an August one yet.  I've taken 2 home pregnancy tests as well as a pee test at the Dr.  All have come back negative.  I'm just wondering where the cycle went?  Indifferent  Before going on B/C 2 and a half years ago, I had irregular cycles, and then the pill made me regular.  I then went off b/c in March.  But, I've had regular cycles since I've gone off it.  DH and I use condoms on a regular basis.  Has anyone had this happen to them?

Re: Lack of period

  • I had something like this happen to me a couple years ago. Have you had you thyroids checked? That was the first problem my doc suggested. Have you had stress problems lately? When mine did that I had just changed jobs and was working with a new group of women. I say that because they say women who are together a lot will "sync." Sounds crazy but that is what I decided happened to me. It was exactly 4 weeks late.
  • Yes, I started a new job on the 21st of July.  So that would've been 2 weeks before my cycle started.  The syncing makes sense, and yes sounds a bit crazy.  I hope, that I get it the beginning of September now.  It's nice not having it, but I'm paranoid that today or the next day I would be getting it.  I'll try not to stress until the expected week in September.  Thanks!
  • If you have had irregular periods before, I wouldn't worry. People with even normal periods sometimes miss one, and it does not automatically mean pregnancy. Extra stress can also delay ovulation, which would in turn delay your period.  If you have taken three PTs I would not be concerned unless the time when you would expect your next period passes, in which case I would go back to the doctor.

  • I had 3 regular cycles followed by a cycle that ended with me taking provera.  It's not uncommon to have crazy cycles after going off the pill and it's also not uncommon for it to happen every once in awhile.  If you get to 60 days with no period, call your doc.

  • Last year I took a job working graveyard and my cycles have not been the same ever since. I was on a year of regular cycles naturally (after being irregular) and I took my overnight job on May 26, 2009.  June 09 was my last ruglar period.  I didn't have another one until October, and then it lasted until late January.  Then It started back up mid March, and I just ended two days ago.  I am on an IUD now, and I kinda hope that takes it away all together (now that it has stopped three months into getting the IUD placed), and realize that all of this started around the time I got my job.  It is a good thing I got a job with bennys cause I need them just to keep my job!

So I am an extreme case of curcumstances and stress messing up your cycle.  Your new job could be what has done it to you.  Give your body some time to adjust, and just keep in contact with your dr with all of your concerns.  I am sure you will be just fine.

This just happened to me! My period has never in the 13 years I've had it been late and it was six days late this month! I took 2 home pregnancy tests and a pee test at the Dr and they were all negative. Talk about stressing me (and my H) out!

My Dr blamed it on the fact that I work in child care with a bunch of women... but I've been working there since December so why did it wait until August to switch itself around? *sigh*

We aren't trying to conceive either.
